1. Popliteal Artery Aneurysms : - epidemiology, treatment and results
Sammanfattning : Popliteal aneurysms (PA) are limb threatening, since the aneurysm thrombose and emboli from the aneurysm sac occlude the distal vessels, resulting in chronic or acute limb ischaemia. Open surgical repair (OSR) has been challenged by endovascular repair (ER), a minimal invasive technique. LÄS MER
2. Popliteal Artery Aneurysm : Epidemiology, Surgical Management and Outcome
Sammanfattning : Even if popliteal artery aneurysm (PAA) is the most common peripheral aneurysm, no single surgeon or institution has enough patients to study this disease with appropriate scientific methods, and no population-based investigation exists. PAA epidemiology, treatment, management, and outcome were studied in a population-based study of 571 patients (717 legs) primarily operated on for PAAs and 100 episodes of preoperative thrombolysis in Sweden between 1987 and 2002. 3. On contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography of the aortoiliac arteries
Sammanfattning : In contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA),vascular signal is produced by the acquisition of a T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging scan while the presence of a contrast agent induces a low T1 in blood. In this thesis,CE-MRA of the aortoiliac arteries was evaluated. LÄS MER
4. Computer Aided Angioplasty : Patient-specific arterial modeling and smooth 3D contact analysis of the stent-balloon-artery interaction
Sammanfattning : Paper A: In this paper, the development and implementation of a contact algorithm based on C2-continuous surface representations is discussed. In 3D contact simulations involving models with arbitrarily curved surfaces (as in the case of vessel walls), the discretization of the contact surfaces by means of facet-based techniques could lead to numerical instabilities and finally loss of quadratic convergence. 5. The impact of duplex scanning in the management of chronic lower limb arterial disease
Sammanfattning : In patients with chronic lower extremity ischemia in which endovascular or surgical intervention is considered non-invasive evaluation by duplex scanning provides important anatomical and hemodynamic information. The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the impact of duplex scanning in the selection of various therapeutic alternatives in limbs with lower extremity arterial insufficiency. LÄS MER
