1. HIV-1 infection of the central nervous system. Markers of pathogenesis and antiretroviral treatment effects
Sammanfattning : Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) invades the central nervous system (CNS) early in the course of infection and either directly or through opportunistic infections causes a spectrum of neurological complications. The most severe manifestation of HIV-1 CNS infection is AIDS Dementia Complex (ADC), which occurs in approximately 20% of untreated patients with AIDS. LÄS MER
2. Antiretroviral treatment of HIV-1 in the central nervous system
Sammanfattning : HIV-1 invades the central nervous system (CNS) early in the infectious course. It establishes a chronic progressive infection, and triggers an intrathecal immune response. If left untreated, a majority of patients will develop neurological complications, caused by opportunistic pathogens or HIV-1 itself. LÄS MER

4. Etiological insights into the testicular cancer epidemic

First, we assessed changes in fertility over time by studying time-to-pregnancy among primiparous women in Sweden from 1983 through 1993 using data from the Medical Birth Registry. LÄS MER
5. Chlamydia trachomatis as a risk factor for infertility in women and men, and ovarian tumor development
Sammanfattning : Background: Chlamydia trachomatis in women is a risk factor for tubal factor infertility and extra uterine pregnancies, but the impact of a C. trachomatis infection on male fertility is unclear. It is also hypothesized that persistent infection with C. trachomatis, or other microorganisms, might initiate/promote ovarian tumor development. LÄS MER
