  1. 1. Early life cytokines, viral infections and IgE-mediated allergic disease

    Författare :Anna-Karin Larsson; Marita Troye-Blomberg; Gunnar Lilja; Maria Jenmalm; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; IgE-sensitisation; childhood; cytokine; viral infection; atopy; single nucleotide polymorphism; cord blood; Immunology; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The reasons why some individuals become IgE-sensitised and allergic are largely unknown, though genetic- and early life environmental factors seem to be of importance.Objective: The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate the relationship between IgE-sensitisation and allergic disease, viral infections, genetic markers and early life cytokines. 2. 2. Cytokine profiles, infections and IgE sensitisation in childhood

    Författare :Caroline Nilsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Allergy; allergic heredity; childhood; cytokines; IgE-sensitisation; Epstein-Barr virus; interleukin-12; viral infections.;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The etiologic factors behind development of lgE-mediated allergy are incompletely understood although the interaction between allergic heredity and exposure to various environmental factors seems to be most important. Objective: The overall aim of this thesis was to study the associations between allergic heredity, environmental factors like viral infections and lgE sensitisation and the development of allergic diseases during childhood. 4. 4. Nitric oxide within the concept of united airway disease : Exhaled and nasal nitric oxide in cystic fibrosis, asthma and upper airway inflammatory diseases

    Författare :Christina Krantz; Andrei Malinovschi; Kjell Alving; Celeste Porsbjerg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nitric oxide; nasal NO; exhaled NO; asthma; cystic fibrosis; airway inflammation; upper airway inflammatory disorders; united airway disease; IgE sensitisation; Lungmedicin; Lung Medicine; Pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Within the concept of united airway disease, it is postulated that inflammatory disorders in the upper and lower airways are interrelated and influence each other. Fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) is an established biomarker of type-2 inflammation in the lower airways and is elevated in patients with asthma. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Development of allergy, salivary IgA antibodies and gut microbiota in a Swedish birth cohort

    Författare :Anna Sandin; Agnes Wold; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :pet keeping; sensitisation; intestinal microflora; short chain fatty acids; allergy; salivary IgA; late-onset wheezing; pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : The increasing prevalence of allergic diseases in affluent societies has been associated with changes in microbial exposure early in life and a less diverse gut flora. The objective of this thesis was to assess the development of allergic sensitisation and symptoms during the first four years of life in a non-selected birth cohort in relation to environmental factors, family history, gut microbiota and salivary IgA antibodies.
