  1. 1. Neural Control of Movement : Motor Neuron Subtypes, Proprioception and Recurrent Inhibition

    Författare :Anders Enjin; Klas Kullander; Samuel L. Pfaff; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; motor neuron; proprioception; recurrent inhibition; molecular marker; Ia afferent; development; transgenic mice; Renshaw cell; Neurobiology; Neurobiologi; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Movement is central for life, and all animals depend on accurate regulation of movement for purposeful behavior. There is great diversity of movements, ranging between simple and vital breathing movements to minute and subtle movements of the face used to communicate emotions. LÄS MER

  2. 2. On spinal mechanisms for reflex control in man : modulation of Ia-afferent excitation with changes in muscle length, activation level and fatigue

    Författare :Maria M. Nordlund; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Electromyography; eccentric; concentric; presynaptic inhibition; H-reflex; central fatigue; twitch interpolation; muscle spindle; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology; Electromyography; eccentric; concentric; presynaptic inhibition; H-reflex; central fatigue; twitch interpolation; muscle spindle;

    Sammanfattning : To control muscle force, neural activation has to take alterations in muscle mechanics into account. This thesis assesses modulations in excitatory efficacy of Ia-afferents during muscle length changes at different levels of voluntary activation and during fatigue. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The central cervical nucleus in the rat : studies on connectivity, function and chemical transmission

    Författare :Birger Ragnarson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Amino acid transmitter AMPA Anterograde Cerebellum Cervical Choleragenoid Electron microscopy Freeze-substitution Glutamate Horseradish peroxidase Ia primary afferent Immunogold Immunocytochemistry Locomotion Motoneuron NMDA Neck muscle Postembedding;

    Sammanfattning : The central cervical nucleus (CCN) is a spinocerebellar cell group in the upper cervical spinal cord (rat: Cl-C3), that is known to receive a powerful primary afferent input from, the upper cervical spinal nerves (C 1-C4), originating mainly from muscle spindle afferents in deep dorsal neck muscles and from the ipsi- and contralateral vestibular nuclei. It projects to the cerebellar vermis bilaterally and to all the vestibular nuclei contralaterally. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Experimental studies of spinal mechanisms associated with muscle fatigue

    Författare :Ivana Kalezic; Vito Enrico Pettorossi; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :muscle fatigue; monosynaptic reflex; presynaptic inhibition; recurrent inhibition; fusimotor system; Fos-immunoreactivity; referral pain; kirurgi; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Muscle fatigue is ubiquitous in every day life.Muscle fatigue might be considered as an altered state of motor behaviour, which impairs motor performance. By contrast, muscle fatigue could also be considered a positive phenomenon, which protects muscle tissue from damage that might be incurred to it by overuse. LÄS MER
