  1. 1. Acute pancreatitis, from local defense to remote organ injury

    Författare :Hamid Akbarshahi; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Acute pancreatitis; heparan sulfate; damage associated molecular patterns; toll-like receptor4; MyD88; IRF-3; acute lung injury; macrophages; transforming growth factor-beta; Smad;

    Sammanfattning : Acute pancreatitis (AP) is an inflammatory disease of the pancreas. Acute abdominal pain is the most common symptom. Pancreatic injury is mild in 80% of patients, who recover without complications. The remaining patients have a severe disease with local and systemic complications such as acute lung injury (ALI). 2. 2. Induction of type I interferons and viral immunity

    Författare :Åsa Hidmark; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Virus-induced type I interferons (IFNα/β) are key mediators of innate immunity and important modulators of adaptive immunity. Early recognition of virus and induction of IFNα/β are important for limiting the spread of the virus. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Crimean-Congo hemorragic fever virus : studies on molecular pathogenesis and host-cell interactions

    Författare :Helen Karlberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF) disease in humans shows a spectrum of severity, from mild to acute. The pathogenesis of this and other viral haemorrhagic fevers (VHF) is associated with alteration of vascular barrier function and haemorrhage, but the specific underlying mechanism is unknown. 5. 5. Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus : interferon-induced antiviral mechanisms and immune evasion strategies

    Författare :Ida Andersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The Bunyaviridae family is the largest virus family consisting of more than 350 viruses. Despite the increasing knowledge regarding the biology of members of this family, little is known about Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV), a virus classified within the Nairovirus genus and the causative agent of a severe hemorrhagic fever in humans with high mortality.
