  1. 6. The role of natural killer cells and inflammatory mediators in preeclamptic pregnancies

    Författare :Nora Bachmayer; Eva Sverremark-Ekström; Katarina Bremme; Lucia Mincheva-Nilsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; preeclampsia; NK cells; Immunology; Immunologi; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : The maternal immune system must be able to adjust during pregnancy and accept the foetus that expresses paternal antigens. These changes are found both in placenta and circulation, including a mild inflammatory response. NK cells are abundant during the early part of pregnancy in placenta and are thought to be important for placental development. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Molecular mechanisms in idiopathic inflammatory myopathies

    Författare :Mei Zong; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Myositis is a group of rare autoimmune diseases. Muscle weakness and fatigue are the dominant symptoms and inflammation with T cells and macrophages is a characteristic finding in muscle tissue. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Cellular immunity and inflammation in atherosclerosis

    Författare :Dirk Marcus Wuttge; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Atherosclerosis; T cell; oxLDL; malondialdehyde; hapten; posttranslational; interleukin-] 5; retinoic acid receptor; inflammation;

    Sammanfattning : Atherosclerosis, the major cause of death and disability in western countries, is nowadays recognized as an inflammatory disease. Low density lipoprotein (LDL), the major carrier of cholesterol in plasma, is trapped in the subendothelial space, where compounds inside of LDL are chemically modified through lipid peroxidation. 4. 9. Rheumatoid arthritis : pharmacological modulation of cytokines : aspects of clinical response and endocrine regulation

    Författare :Sofia Ernestam; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Rheumatoid arthritis; cytokines; gold sodium thiomalate; TNF-antagonists;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic inflammatory disease primarily affecting the joints. In the pathogenesis several cells of the immune systeme and messengers of the immune systeme, cytokines, are important. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Proinflammatory factor mediated lymphocyte activation-the pivotal role of leukotriene B4

    Författare :Anquan Liu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is ubiquitous in the human population. More than 90% of the individuals are virus carriers. The outcome of the first encounter with the virus is highly variable. It can occur unnoticed, but if infection is delayed until adolescence it causes the infectious mononucleosis syndrome in about half of the cases. LÄS MER
