  2. 17. Regulation of non-responsiveness and death in cytotoxic T cells by the agonistic potency of MHC : peptide ligands

    Författare :Michael Uhlin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :CD8 T cells; APL; CTLs; non-responsiveness; AICD; lck; lipid rafts; partial agonism; TCR activation.;

    Sammanfattning : CD8+ T lymphocytes are important for immunological control of infections and tumors. The key interaction required to initiate the process of T cell activation is the engagement of the T cell receptor (TCR) with a major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I/peptide complex on an antigen presenting cell (APC). 3. 18. Immune maturation in early childhood and the influence of herpesvirus infections

    Författare :Ebba Sohlberg; Eva Sverremark-Ekström; Eleanor Riley; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Immune differentiation; monocytes; NK cells; B cells; T cells; Epstein-Barr virus; EBV; cytomegalovirus; CMV; IFN-γ; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : The quality of immune responses develops from birth into adulthood and in the context of the host microbial environment. The aim of this work was to study immune maturation during childhood, and how this process can be affected by the common herpesviruses; Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and cytomegalovirus (CMV). LÄS MER

  4. 19. Cytokines as diagnostic biomarkers in canine pyometra and sepsis

    Författare :Iulia Karlsson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Sepsis is a syndrome with high morbidity, mortality and astronomical health care costs and it is challenging to diagnose both in humans and animals due to the lack of suitable diagnostic biomarkers. Although several types of proteins have been suggested as diagnostic biomarkers of sepsis, none of them were shown to be reliable for routine use in the clinical practice. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Dynamics of natural killer cell homeostasis : implications for cell-based cancer immunotherapy

    Författare :Aline Pfefferle; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Natural killer (NK) cells comprise a central role within the innate immune system, eliminating virally infected, foreign and transformed cells through their natural cytotoxic capacity. Release of their cytotoxic granules is tightly controlled through the balance of a large repertoire of inhibitory and activating receptors, and it is the unique combination of these receptors on individual cells that confers them their immense diversity both in phenotype and functionality.
