17. Regulation of non-responsiveness and death in cytotoxic T cells by the agonistic potency of MHC : peptide ligands
Sammanfattning : CD8+ T lymphocytes are important for immunological control of infections and tumors. The key interaction required to initiate the process of T cell activation is the engagement of the T cell receptor (TCR) with a major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I/peptide complex on an antigen presenting cell (APC). Sammanfattning : Sepsis is a syndrome with high morbidity, mortality and astronomical health care costs and it is challenging to diagnose both in humans and animals due to the lack of suitable diagnostic biomarkers. Although several types of proteins have been suggested as diagnostic biomarkers of sepsis, none of them were shown to be reliable for routine use in the clinical practice. LÄS MER
20. Dynamics of natural killer cell homeostasis : implications for cell-based cancer immunotherapy
Sammanfattning : Natural killer (NK) cells comprise a central role within the innate immune system, eliminating virally infected, foreign and transformed cells through their natural cytotoxic capacity. Release of their cytotoxic granules is tightly controlled through the balance of a large repertoire of inhibitory and activating receptors, and it is the unique combination of these receptors on individual cells that confers them their immense diversity both in phenotype and functionality.
