11. Experimental Chagas disease
Sammanfattning : The main focus of this thesis was to develop and utilise experimental models using the protozoan parasite Trypanosoma cruzi. We were especially interested in studying the activation of NK cells early after T. cruzi infection and what factors that predispose to a chronic inflammatory disease after T. cruzi infection. 12. Immune regulation in multiple sclerosis : cytokines and metalloproteinases
Sammanfattning : Immunological mechanisms play a central role in the pathogenesis sclerosis (MS). In this study two groups of related immune variables are cytokines and metalloproteinases (MMPs), which regulate each other's production and activation. LÄS MER
13. Allergic airway inflammation and bone marrow eosinophilopoiesis. Modulation by cytokines
Sammanfattning : Accumulation of eosinophils in the airways and lung parenchyma is one of the hallmarks of allergic airway inflammation. This cellular inflammatory response is likely to involve the release of eosinophils from peripheral storage pools and possibly cause production of eosinophils in the bone marrow (BM). LÄS MER
14. Organic dust from pig environment induces activation of human T cells
Sammanfattning : Farmers suffer more frequently from inflammatory airway disorders than the population in general and a ongoing airway inflammation has been shown also in symptom-free healthy farmers. Exposure in a swine confinement building causes an intense airway inflammation with recruitment of inflammatory cells, predominately neutrophils, in healthy, previously, non-exposed subjects. LÄS MER
15. Maturation of T-lymphocytes and monocytes in children in relation to development of atopic disease
