16. Pathogen-host interactions at the surface of Streptococcus pyogenes
Sammanfattning : The bacterial surface can be thought of as the interface where pathogenic bacteria encounter the human host. Interactions between bacterial surface proteins and human proteins are important determinants of the eventual outcome of infection. LÄS MER
17. Characterization of nucleic acid delivery with fatty acid modified cell-penetrating peptide nanoparticle formulations
Sammanfattning : Recent advances with techniques used for manipulating gene expression have brought us to an era where various gene therapeutic approaches are becoming common therapeutic tools for many previously incurable diseases. The main factor impeding the wider translation of gene therapy is that the active pharmaceutical ingredients used for interfering with gene expression are based on nucleic acids and synthetic oligonucleotides and such molecules do not readily reach their intracellular targets due to their physicochemical properties and therefore they require delivery vectors to cross the cell membrane. 18. Nickel and iridium pincer complexes with saturated frameworks - synthesis and reactivity
Sammanfattning : As the tridentate chelate complexes referred to as pincer complexes have expanded their scope as homogeneous catalysts, there is an increased interest in electronic and steric fine-tuning of such complexes. One accessible variable in this aspect is the hybridisation of any coordinated carbon atoms. LÄS MER
19. Proteoglycan Lectin Domain Interactions in Extracellular Matrix Assembly
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the C-terminal G3 region of the large aggregating proteoglycans that are found in complex with hyaluronan in the extracellular matrix. The G3 region contains a C-type lectin domain that binds different extracellular matrix proteins playing an integral role in tissue organization during development and remodeling. LÄS MER
20. Homogeneous and heterogeneous Cp*Ir(III) catalytic systems : Mechanistic studies of redox processes catalyzed by bifunctional iridium complexes, and synthesis of iridium-functionalized MOFs
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this doctoral thesis is to investigate and develop catalytic processes mediated by iridium(III) complexes. By understanding the mechanisms, the weaknesses of the designed catalysts can be identified and be overcome in the following generation. LÄS MER
