6. Prognostic factors in soft tissue sarcoma. Tissue microarray for immunostaining, the importance of whole-tumor sections and time-dependence
Sammanfattning : In adult soft tissue sarcoma (STS) of the extremities and trunk wall, improved prognostic factors are needed to identify patients at high-risk for metastasis. Various factors are included in the many prognostic systems currently in use and the prognostic value of immunohistochemical (IHC) expression of biological markers is unclear. LÄS MER
7. Rectal Cancer - Tumor Biology and Prognostic Markers
Sammanfattning : Colorectal cancer is one of our most common malignancies and the second leading cause of cancer death worldwide. About 1/3 of the tumors are located in the rectum. LÄS MER

9. Development of the gastrointestinal tract in young mammals : Effects of enteral provocation with protease or phytohaemagglutinin in neonatal rats
Sammanfattning : The rat, as an altritial species, is born with an immature gastrointestinal tract and intestinal barrier function, which is highly absorptive to milk-borne bioactive molecules that can pass undigested and reach the general circulation of the suckling newborn. This passage occurs by the neonatal-Fc-receptor (FcRn) binding and trancytosis of immunoglobulin G in the proximal small intestine (SI) and by the highly endocytic vacuolated enterocytes non-selectively in the distal SI. 10. Nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems for neural interfaces - a novel approach for improved biocompatibility
Sammanfattning : The overall purpose of this thesis was to reduce brain tissue responses around implanted microelectrodes using a pharmacological strategy. One of the main aims was to develop and evaluate drug delivery systems that allow local administration of anti-inflammatory pharmaceutics. LÄS MER
