  1. 1. Genetic polymorphisms in breast cancer in relation to risk and prognosis

    Författare :Erika Bågeman; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; age at diagnosis; breast cancer; polymorphism; CYP1A2; IGF1; GSTM1; CYP2C9; CYP2C8; coffee; GSTT1; ER; parity;

    Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women living in Sweden and the second most common cancer in the rest of the world. The risk of developing breast cancer is modified by environment, lifestyle, genetics and a combination of these factors. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Keratinocyte differentiation. Involvement of the growth hormon (GH)/insulinlike growth factor1 (IGFI) axis and IGF1 post receptor signaling

    Författare :Elisabeth Björntorp Mark; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :IGF1R; GH; Id1; keratinocytes; psoriasis;

    Sammanfattning : At cellular level, little is known about the genes that regulate keratinocyte differentiation andproliferation. Psoriasis is regarded as a T-cell mediated inflammatory disease with hyperproliferativekeratinocytes. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Targeting insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor in cancer

    Författare :Ada Girnita; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :IGF1; IGF-1R; MDM2; p53; PPP; Tamoxifen; tyrosine kinase inhibitors; ubiquitin;

    Sammanfattning : Cancer is a multi-step process where the accumulation of several genetic and epigenetic alterations drives the transformation of a normal cell to a malignant cell, skipping the normal control of defense, repair and apoptosis. During the selection process towards a malignant phenotype, the transforming cells make use of normal (physiological) extracellular signaling pathways to create growth advantage over normal cells. 4. 4. Prostate cancer aetiology : epidemiological studies of the IGF- and one-carbon metabolism pathways

    Författare :Mattias Johansson; Pär Stattin; Henrik Grönberg; Fredrik Wiklund; Jenny Chang-Claude; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Urology and andrology; Urologi och andrologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to investigate the involvement of the insulin-like growth factor- and the one-carbon metabolism pathways in prostate cancer aetiology, studying both circulating biomarkers and genetic variation. Papers included in the thesis were conducted within the case-control study CAncer Prostate in Sweden (CAPS), and the two prospective studies European Prospective Investigation into nutrition and Cancer (EPIC), and Northern Sweden Health and Disease Cohort (NSHDC). 5. 5. Genetic polymorphisms, IGF-1, and oral contraceptive use in women from high-risk breast cancer families

    Författare :Maria Henningson; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; familial breast cancer; premenopausal women; htSNP; GSTP1; polymorphism; BRCA1; BRCA2; IGF-1; oral contraceptives; CYP17; GSTT1; GSTM1;

    Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is the most common cancer among Swedish women, affecting more than 7000 women each year. About 5-10% of all breast cancers are hereditary, with a monogenic inheritance pattern, but only 2-4% are explained by germline mutations in BRCA1 or BRCA2. BRCA1/BRCA2 mutation carriers have a 60-80% risk of developing breast cancer. LÄS MER
