1. Transcriptional Regulation of HIF2A/EPAS1 in Neuroblastoma
Sammanfattning : Neuroblastoma is a childhood tumor of the developing sympathetic nervous system (SNS) and is the most commonly diagnosed form of cancer in children before one year of age. Although survival curves have improved for these patients during the past decades, the conventional regimen of neuroblastoma treatment has clearly reached a plateau of efficiency with regard to increasing the survival rates of high-risk children. 2. Early growth, retinopathy of prematurity and insulin-like growth factors in preterm infants
Sammanfattning : Aims:Paper I: To perform measurements of the lower leg length (LLL) in preterm infants, compare and evaluate handling error and precision of two instruments, and estimate the time required to show growth.Paper II-IV: To investigate whether low postnatal levels of serum IGF-I are associated with abnormal retinal vessel development. 3. Insulin-like growth factor-II : cellular effects through different receptors
Sammanfattning : Insulin-like growth factor-II (IGF-II) and IGF-I are single-chain polypeptides structurally homologous to proinsulin and share similarities with insulin in functional characteristics. Cellular actions of IGF-II are generally thought to be mediated through the IGF-I or insulin receptors, but not the IGF-II receptor, which is a single chain protein, identical to the cation independent mannose 6-phosphate (M6P) receptor and responsible for lysosomal enzyme targeting and degradation of IGF-II. 4. Regulation of insulin-like growth factor-II in human liver
Sammanfattning : Insulin-like growth factors-I and -II (IGF-I and -II) are mitogens in a number of cell types and also have insulin-like actions. IGF-II has an autocrine role in a variety of malignancies; and hypoglycemia is well documented in conditions associated with elevated IGF-II precursor forms in the circulation. LÄS MER
5. IGF, PI3K and HIF-2 in Normal and Tumor Development
Sammanfattning : Cells adapt to oxygen shortage, hypoxia, by inducing a transcriptional shift governed mainly by Hypoxia Inducible Factor (HIF)-1 and HIF-2. In various cancer forms, including neuroblastoma, high expression of HIF-2α correlates with disseminated disease and poor outcome. LÄS MER
