6. Ultrahigh-Voltage Silicon Carbide Device Performance, Requirements, and Limitations in High-Power Applications
Sammanfattning : The increased awareness of the on-going climate change accelerates the electric energy system transformation from fossil-fueled power sources towards systems with larger portions of renewable energy sources. Moreover, the grid infrastructure requires reinforcements to cope with increasing electrical energy demand. LÄS MER
7. Energy-efficient Generating System for HVDC Off-shore Wind Turbine
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the design of energy efficient generating systems for off-shore wind turbines. For the generator part of the electric drive system, a surface mounted permanent magnet synchronous generator (SPMSG), an interior permanent magnet generator (IPMSG) as well as a synchronous reluctance generator (SynRG) have been investigated. 8. On integrity assessment of IGBT-based power stacks used in magnet power supplies for particle accelerators
Sammanfattning : This thesis analyses an electrical testing method for assessing the integrity of an IGBT-based power stack assembly during factory acceptance tests and service stops. The method combines vce measurements with high current in the Zero Temperature Coefficient (ZTC) operating region and with low sensing current within a specific current cycle using a proposed sampling and filtering technique. 9. Silicon-Carbide-Based High-Voltage Submodules for HVDC Voltage-Source Converters
Sammanfattning : In order to transition to renewable energy sources and simultaneously meet the increasing demand for electrical energy, highly flexible and efficient grids are required. High-voltage direct-current (HVDC) transmission and grids are foreseen to be a vital part of the future electricity grid. LÄS MER
10. Performance Evaluation and Life Cycle Cost Analysis of the Electrical Generation Unit of a Wave Energy Converter
Sammanfattning : The main focus of this work is the performance and the economical assessment of a radial flux generator that is used in wave power applications. The wave energy converter (WEC) used in this work is a point absorber, that is considered to move only in heave. LÄS MER
