  1. 1. Cytokine regulation in rodents with experimental arthritis

    Författare :Åsa Boström Müssener; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :collagen-induced arthritis; oil-induced arthritis; IL-2; IL-4; TNFa; IFNy; TGFß;

    Sammanfattning : The general aim of this project has been to try to elucidate the mechanisms behind induction of arthritis by using in situ hybridization and immunohistochemical methods to analyse the dynamics of the cytokine network in vivo, in the peripheral Iymphoid system and in the joints of rodents with collagen-induced arthritis (CIA)and oil-induced arthritis (OIA). We first examined the kinetics of cytokine gene expression in vivo, in the draining Iymph nodes of DA rats following immunization with rat type II collagen (RCII) emulsified in Freund's incomplete adjuvant oil (FIA) or with only FIA, which are regimens that induce CIA and OIA, respectively. 2. 2. Monoclonal antibodies to human interferon-α and interferon-γ : Characterization and application with focus on interferon-γ as a T cell cytokine

    Författare :Gudrun Andersson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : The major functions of the immune system are to combat infections and to control that normal auto-immunity does not turn into auto-aggression. Antibodies, together with T cell receptors and MHC molecules, dictates the immunological specificity. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Immune response in human tonsil tissue

    Författare :Karin Ågren; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Tonsillar hypertrophy; reeurrent tonsillitis; infectious mononueleosis; cytokine; immune response.;

    Sammanfattning : Pathogenic mechanisms responsible for tonsillar hypertrophy (TH) in children suffering from obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) were studied and compared with children with recurrent tonsillitis (RT) and infectious mononucleosis (IM), respectively. In an initial study the clinical consequences of OSAS caused by TH was investigated. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Immune mechanisms in vasculopathies

    Författare :Soniya Nityanand; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Most of the inflammatory vasculopathies, termed as vasculitides are considered to be mediated at least in part by immunopathogenic mechanisms. With the recent demonstration of immune cells in atherosclerotic plaques, immune mechanisms are considered to play an important role in atherosclerotic vasculopathies too. LÄS MER
