  1. 16. THE INFLUENCE OF LACTOBACILLI AND STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS ON IMMUNE RESPONSIVENESS IN VITRO

    Författare :Yeneneh Haileselassie; Eva Sverremark-Ekström; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cytokine; T cells; immune response; HT-29; Intestinal epithelial cells; Lactobacillus; Staphylococcus aureus; bacteria and infants; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Alteration of gut microbiota has been associated with development of immune mediated diseases, such as allergy. In part, this could be due to the influence of microbes in shaping the immune response. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Experimental brain tumors, dendritic cells and immunotherapy

    Författare :Shorena Janelidze; Neurokirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; dendritic cell; interferon-γ; immunotherapy; Brain tumor;

    Sammanfattning : Malignant astrocytomas are the most common primary tumors of the adult central nervous system. Surgical resection of tumor mass in combination with radiotherapy and chemotherapy is only palliative and there is a clear need for new and more effective therapeutic strategies. LÄS MER

  3. 18. The role of intestinal dendritic cells and the microbiota during oral Salmonella infection

    Författare :Maria Fernández-Santoscoy; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Salmonella; dendritic cells; NK-kB; MyD88; CD40; CD103; IRF4; microbiota;

    Sammanfattning : The intestinal pathogen Salmonella causes millions of infections per year worldwide. The immune response to these bacteria involves interactions between several cell types via specific molecules and is under the influence of the intestinal microbiota. Dendritic cells (DC) initiate immune responses including those to Salmonella. LÄS MER

  4. 19. The Importance of Cell-Mediated Immunity for the Development of Type 1 Diabetes

    Författare :Maria G. E. Karlsson; Stellan Sandler; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Background Type I (insulin-dependent) diabetes mellitus is an autoimmune disease characterised by infiltration of T-lymphocytes in the islets of Langerhans. In particular, activated Th1-like lymphocytes secreting IFN-γ are suggested to contribute to the inflammatory process and the destruction of ß-cells, whereas Th2-like cells producing IL-4 might even be protective. 5. 20. Mycobacterial infection: Immune evasion, host susceptibility and immunological markers of diagnostic importance

    Författare :John Arko-Mensah; Carmen Fernandez; Francesco Dieli; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Mycobacteria; Mice; Toll-like receptors; interferon gamma; immunological markers; lung; respiratory tract; susceptibility; Immunology; Immunologi; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : IIn the first study, we investigated the functional implications of prolonged TLR signalling on IFN-γ mediated killing of mycobacteria by murine macrophages in vitro. TLR2, but not TLR4 ligation interfered with IFN-γ mediated killing of mycobacteria in macrophages. LÄS MER
