  1. 11. The role of fibroblast growth factor-23 in chronic kidney disease-mineral and bone disorder

    Författare :Majd A. I. Mirza; Tobias Larsson; Tilman Drüeke; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; FGF23; FGF-23; CKD; CKD-MBD; cardiovascular disease; vascular function; atherosclerosis; hypertrophy; LVMI; LVH; fractures; bone; fat mass; obesity; apolipoproteins; cholesterol; lipids; Kidney diseases; Njursjukdomar; Cardiovascular medicine; Kardiovaskulär medicin; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF23) was initially identified as the causative factor of autosomal dominant hypophosphatemic rickets. Further studies confirmed that FGF23 is predominantly expressed in the osteocytes and osteoblasts of bone and that circulating FGF23 acts on the kidney to inhibit renal phosphate reabsorption and 1,25(OH)2D3 hydroxylation. 2. 12. Regulation of inducible nitric oxide synthase - Consequences in experimental models of bladder disease

    Författare :Rebecka Johansson; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; smooth muscle-myosin heavy chain; Pharmacological sciences; pharmacognosy; farmakognosi; farmaci; actin; BDNF; Rho; aminoguanidine; TNF-alpha; IL-1beta; hypertrophy; differentiation; smooth muscle; bladder; nitric oxide; inducible nitric oxide synthase; toxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : Inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) expression is associated with various pathophysiological conditions in the lower urinary tract. The aims of this thesis have been to investigate the regulation of iNOS in bladder smooth muscle cells and the consequences on neuromuscular regulation, cell growth and differentiation. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Effects of Denervation and Infravesical Obstruction in the Rat Urinary Bladder

    Författare :Tord Berggren; Urologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Infravesical obstruction; Lactate dehydrogenase; Atropine; Hypertrophy; Vasopressin; Ultrastructure; Parasympathetic nerves; Smooth muscle; Pelvic Ganglion; Rat Urinary Bladder; Ganglionectomy; Cystometry; Denervation.truction; Urology; nephrology; Urologi; nefrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Median micturition volume decreased early after partial outlet obstruction, 24 hrs total obstruction and hemidenervation. Degeneration release of transmitter may explain this, assuming that bladder wall distension causes nerve degeneration. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Signal transduction and calcium sensitivity of smooth muscle contraction

    Författare :Johan Bonnevier; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fysiologi; Physiology; hypertrophy; CPI-17; MYPT1; myosin phosphatase; Rho kinase; PKC; smooth muscle; cGK;

    Sammanfattning : Smooth muscles are components of several physiologically important organs and often involved in disease. Smooth muscle contraction is regulated by variations in intracellular [Ca2+]; increased levels activate the myosin light chain kinase (MLCK) which phosphorylates myosin and initiates contraction. 5. 15. Protein expression and modifications in denervated atrophic and hypertrophic skeletal muscle

    Författare :Kim Evertsson; Sven Tågerud; Håkan Westerblad; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Skeletal muscle; denervation; atrophy; hypertrophy; protein expression; protein phosphorylation; Akt; p38; MK2; Hsp25; Hsp70; FoxO1; MuRF1; autophagy; Lamp1; Lc3; Biomedical Sciences; Biomedicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Skeletal muscle comprises about 45% of the total body weight. It is the largest tissue in the body, vital for maintaining posture, produce locomotion, breathing but also functions as a large reservoir of proteins. LÄS MER
