1. Hemodilution with dextran: Effects on blood flow and thrombus formation. An experimental study in the rabbit
Sammanfattning : Microvascular surgery enables free tissue flaps to cover tissue defects, e.g. after trauma and malignancies. Although major improvements in techniques have been made, problems with poor tissue circulation and thrombus formation still exist. LÄS MER
2. Endothelin receptor antagonism and hypertonic solutions in experimental endotoxin shock
Sammanfattning : Sepsis is a common and serious condition among patients in the intensive care unit. It is characterized by a systemic inflammatory response, resulting in cardiovascular instability and impaired organ tissue oxygenation due to hypoperfusion and inflammatory changes. LÄS MER
3. Experimental cardiopulmonary cerebral resuscitation : A study of cerebral perfusion with special reference to the postresuscitation disturbances
Sammanfattning : Ischemic neuronal injury continues to be a major delimiting factor in achieving successful clinical outcomesafter resuscitation from cardiac arrest. In this thesis, a pig model of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) wasused to address the effects of different interventions on cerebral blood flow and oxygenation during CPR and theinitial postresuscitation period. 4. Aspects of hepatoduodenal trauma and fluid therapy in hemorrhagic shock
Sammanfattning : Traumatic injury is the leading cause of death among young adults and children, accounting for 5 million deaths worldwide on an annual basis. In Sweden alone, 2500 individuals succumb to traumatic injuries yearly. Beyond the burden of death, injuries contribute to a large proportion of disability. LÄS MER
5. Fluid resuscitation in controlled and uncontrolled hemorrhage
Sammanfattning : Background: For many years, early intravenous fluid resuscitation has been widely accepted as an appropriate treatment of the trauma patient at the scene of the injury, regardless of the type of trauma and hemorrhage. The present Thesis describes the effects of fluid resuscitation on the hemodynamics in the presence of a limited controlled hemorraghe and also particularly in the situation when the bleeding is uncontrolled.
