  1. 1. Applications of hydrodynamic forces for membrane chromatography

    Författare :Björn Johansson Fast; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Membrane chromatography; FRAP; Protein accumulation; Supported lipid bilayer; Microfluidics; SEEC; Diffusion; Hydrodynamic forces; Label-free;

    Sammanfattning : Membrane proteins are proteins that reside in the cell membrane. Due to their position in the cell membrane, the barrier between the cell interior and exterior, they are vital to cell signaling. Moreover, the presence of membrane proteins in the cell's signaling pathways make membrane proteins important drug targets. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Hydrodynamic flow for deterministic sorting of cell-membrane components

    Författare :Björn Johansson Fast; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Gold nanoparticles; Diffusion; Microfluidics; Native membrane vesicles; Single particle tracking; Protein enrichment; Hydrodynamic forces; Supported lipid bilayer; Size determination;

    Sammanfattning : The biological membrane, an amphiphilic structure that is the barrier between the cell interior and exterior, is one of the vital building blocks of all cells. Not only does it define the outer boundaries of the cell, it also carries important biological function by virtue of the proteins and other molecules that constitute the membrane, the function of which is in turn intimately coupled to their association with the lipid-based membrane. 3. 3. Process Intensification through Acoustic and Hydrodynamic Cavitation

    Författare :Taraka Rama Krishna Pamidi; Örjan Johansson; Torbjörn Löfqvist; Giancarlo Cravotto; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ultrasonic Cavitation; Hydrodynamic Cavitation; Process Intensification; Cellulose fiber; Tungsten; Refining; Leaching; Teknisk akustik; Engineering Acoustics;

    Sammanfattning : Process industries are cornerstones in today’s industrialized world. They contribute significantly to the development of diverse commodities and materials that are used in our daily lives. Process intensification is an approach implemented to boost manufacturing efficiency and capacities in a more sustainable and energy efficient way. LÄS MER

  4. 4. CFD Predictions Including Verification and Validation of Hydrodynamic Forces and Moments on Ships in Restricted Waters

    Författare :Lu Zou; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; RANS; deep water; shallow water; ship-to-ship interaction; bank effects; tanker hulls; canal; verification and validation; drift motion; hydrodynamic forces and moments;

    Sammanfattning : The evaluation of ship manoeuvrability is of significance at the initial design stage, as inappropriate manoeuvring performance may result in unstable ship motion, difficulties in steering and even marine accidents. Restricted waters, with the presence of solid boundaries of the flow field, such as a shallow seabed below the hull, a side bank in the vicinity of the hull or another hull nearby, complicate the flow field and introduce an influence on hydrodynamic forces and moments acting on the hull.
