  1. 6. Public Transportation in a Systems Perspective A Conceptual Model and an Analytical Framework for Design and Evaluation

    Författare :Stig Franzén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; control theory; systems design; cybernetics; passenger transport; urban transport; systems perspective; conceptual model; systems engineering; human-machine system; public transportation;

    Sammanfattning : Today urban areas are faced with problems like traffic congestion, air pollution, and limited accessibility and transport policy issues are focused on the "sustainable city of the future". For decision-makers the crucial question is how, with limited financial resources, a system for public transportation should be designed and developed to provide attractive travel and transport services. 2. 7. Self-Monitoring using Joint Human-Machine Learning : Algorithms and Applications

    Författare :Ece Calikus; Sławomir Nowaczyk; Onur Dikmen; Stefan Byttner; Rita Ribeiro; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; self-monitoring; anomaly detection; machine learning;

    Sammanfattning : The ability to diagnose deviations and predict faults effectively is an important task in various industrial domains for minimizing costs and productivity loss and also conserving environmental resources. However, the majority of the efforts for diagnostics are still carried out by human experts in a time-consuming and expensive manner. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Tracking Theory for Preventive Safety Systems

    Författare :Lars Danielsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; vehicle tracking; sensor data fusion; automotive; active safety systems; sensor models; warning integration; motion models; fusion strategies; human machine interface; preventive safety systems;

    Sammanfattning : Preventive safety systems rely on accurate information from a sensing system regarding the current traffic situation to make decision whether to inform, warn or intervene to avoid an impeding collision or to mitigate its consequences. This thesis mainly considers tracking algorithms to enhance these systems through making the best use of the information supplied by on-vehicle sensors, such as radar and vision sensors. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Design of Natural Warning Sounds in Human-Machine Systems

    Författare :Pernilla Ulfvengren; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Auditory alerting system interface; ergonomics; cognitive engineering; aviation; Work sciences and ergonomics; Arbetsvetenskap och ergonomi;

    Sammanfattning : The goal of this research is increased safety in aviation. Aviation is a highly automated and complex, as well as, safety critical human-machine system. The pilot communicates with the system via a human-machine interface in cockpit. In an alerting situation this interface is in part an auditory alerting system. LÄS MER

  5. 10. The Quest for Edge Awareness, Lessons not yet learned : PhD Thesis on practical and situated usefulness of advanced technological systems among inescapable uncertainties and competing interests in a world of dynamic changes

    Författare :Patrik Stensson; Anders Jansson; Pär Ågerfalk; Martin Norsell; Erik Hollnagel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; critical realism; human factors; situation awareness; resilience engineering; human-machine interaction; automation; autonomy; situated usefulness; systems thinking; sociotechnical systems; edge awareness; Människa-dator interaktion; Human-Computer Interaction;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis problematizes the concept of usefulness, in part by taking questions to the extreme. The starting point is the contemporary view of usefulness, a view that remains within a traditional paradigm of technical rationality in which important aspects are disregarded or not perceived because they are not part of the equation.
