  1. 1. Wnt-5a Signalling in Human Mammary Cells: Implications for the Development of Breast Cancer

    Författare :Marzieh Jönsson; Bröstca-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; oncology; Cytology; signalling; breast cancer; Wnt-5a; mammary epithelial cells; cancer; onkologi; Cytologi; cancerology;

    Sammanfattning : The Wnt-5a gene encodes a secreted protein that regulates several normal processes in embryonic and adult tissues by as yet unknown mechanisms. Expression of Wnt-5a protein does not cause cell transformation, but it instead counteracts the effects induced by transforming Wnts. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Stem and progenitor cells in brain ad breast malignancies

    Författare :Gabriella Honeth; Bröstca-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neural progenitor cells; glioma; migration; chemokines; cancer stem cells; breast cancer; CD44; CD24;

    Sammanfattning : Stem cells have qualities that clearly distinguish them from all other cells. Capabilities like self-renewal, differentiation and migration make them truly powerful. This thesis deals with different aspects of stem/progenitor cells in relation to cancer. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Genetic characterization of malignant melanoma and breast cancer

    Författare :Göran B Jönsson; Bröstca-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; oncology; Cytology; microarray; inherited breast cancer; Melanoma; linkage analysis; cancer; Cytologi; cancerology; onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Malignant melanoma and breast cancer are common malignant diseases characterized by considerable heterogeneity with respect to genetics, histopathology, biology and clinical course. In breast cancer, two major susceptibility genes have been identified, BRCA1 and BRCA2, which account for a significant proportion of high-risk breast cancer families. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Cyclin E overexpression and associated events in human breast cancer

    Författare :Maria Stighall; Malmö Patologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; patologisk anatomi; Patologi allmän ; pathological anatomy; General pathology; tumour growth pattern; invasion; proliferation; ID2; cyclin E; pRb; cell cycle; breast cancer;

    Sammanfattning : Unrestrained proliferation is a hallmark of cancer and genetic defects within G1/S-phase regulation and the pRb pathway occur frequently. Proliferation control can be circumvented either by excess cyclin D1 or cyclin E, alterations that can define two alternative tumour biologic pathways in breast cancer. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Role of Wnt-5a in breast cancer

    Författare :Janna Sand-Dejmek; Malmö Experimentell patologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; General pathology; signal transduction; metastasis; adhesion; breast cancer; Syk; Wnt-5a; DDR1; pathological anatomy; Patologi allmän ; patologisk anatomi;

    Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is one of the most common cancer forms in the industrialized world. Only in Sweden, nearly 6000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year and 1/3 of them eventually succumb to the disease. LÄS MER
