  1. 1. Expressing emotions through vibration for perception and control

    Författare :Shafiq ur Réhman; Li Liu; Xiaoyi Jiang; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Multimodal Signal Processing; Mobile Communication; Vibrotactile Rendering; Locally Linear Embedding; Object Detection; Human Facial Expression Analysis; Lip Tracking; Object Tracking; HCI; Expectation-Maximization Algorithm; Lipless Tracking; Image Analysis; Visually Impaired.; Signal processing; Signalbehandling; Image analysis; Bildanalys; Computer science; Datavetenskap; Telecommunication; Telekommunikation; Systems engineering; Systemteknik; datoriserad bildanalys; Computerized Image Analysis; business data processing; administrativ databehandling; Electronics; elektronik; Systems Analysis; systemanalys;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses a challenging problem: “how to let the visually impaired ‘see’ others emotions”. We, human beings, are heavily dependent on facial expressions to express ourselves. A smile shows that the person you are talking to is pleased, amused, relieved etc. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Decisional-Emotional Support System for a Synthetic Agent : Influence of Emotions in Decision-Making Toward the Participation of Automata in Society

    Författare :Javier Francisco Guerrero Razuri; Aron Larsson; David Sundgren; Rahim Rahmani; Alessandro Villa; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Affective Computing; Machine Learning; Adversarial Risk Analysis; Broaden and Build Theory; Facial Expression Recognition; Speech Emotion Recognition; Detection of Emotional Information; Emotional self-regulation; Computer and Systems Sciences; data- och systemvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Emotion influences our actions, and this means that emotion has subjective decision value. Emotions, properly interpreted and understood, of those affected by decisions provide feedback to actions and, as such, serve as a basis for decisions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Investigating Communicative Feedback Phenomena across Languages and Modalities

    Författare :Loredana Sundberg Cerrato; David House; Marianne Gullberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Linguistics; Lingvistik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with human communicative behaviour related to feedback, analysed across languages (Italian and Swedish), modalities (auditory versus visual) and different communicative situations (human-human versus human-machine dialogues). The aim of this study is to give more insight into how humans use communicative behaviour related to feedback and at the same time to suggest a method to collect valuable data that can be useful to control facial and head movements related to visual feedback in synthetic conversational agents. 4. 4. Genetic dissection of models for neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration

    Författare :Karin Harnesk; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Many central nervous system (CNS) diseases are characterized by inflammation and nerve cell loss, but the exact relationship between these phenomena is not known. The complex etiology of CNS disorders includes a genetic component. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Bone tissue regeneration indento-alveolar surgery : clinical and experimental studies on biomaterials and bone graft substitutes

    Författare :Annika Sahlin-Platt; Maria Ransjö; Christer Dahlin; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biomaterials; bone graft substitutes; compomer; root end filling; Bio-Oss; Bioactive glass 45S5; Algipore; SEM EDAX; ICP-OES; Cryo-XPS;

    Sammanfattning : Pathological processes in the alveolar and facial bones can lead to bone loss that may not heal with complete regeneration. Biomaterials can be used to facilitate the healing process and/or as a bone substitute, but the mechanisms are not fully understood. LÄS MER
