    Sammanfattning : Suburbs sprang up round about many Swedish towns and cities in and around 1900. For obvious reasons, they were most numerous round about the City of Stockholm.     Sammanfattning : The "inappropriate" use of emergency departm ents (EDs) - for nonurgent or minor ailments and high-frequency use, "heavy use" - is causing great concern to several Western countries, irrespective of differing health care systems. Through a trial at Huddinge Hospital, about a quarter of the patients who sought care at the ED during day-time were classified by the reception staff as non-urgent cases in the sense of not needing the special resources of an emergency department.     Sammanfattning : The production of blood cells (hematopoiesis), where the hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) is the cell of origin of all blood cells, is regulated by a complex network of intrinsic and extrinsic signals.     Sammanfattning : This thesis aimed to study inflammation and adipogenesis capacity in human subcutaneous white adipose tissue with respect to the development of obesity and associated comorbidities, including insulin resistance. Study I showed that the transcription factor, MAFB, was associated with increased adiposity and involved in regulation of TNFα-mediated inflammatory response, yet did not seem to directly influence adipogenesis or metabolism in human adipocytes.
