    Sammanfattning : Oesophageal cancer is a malignant and aggressive disease with very poor survival. The aim of this thesis was to evaluate novel therapeutic targets in oesophageal cancer.In paper I, Hsp90 was expressed in all 81 oesophageal cancer tissues and also in nine oesophageal cancer cell lines.     Sammanfattning : The ß-carbolines norharman and harman structurally resemble the synthetic compound 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) that is known for its ability to damage neuromelanin-containing dopaminergic neurons of the substantia nigra and thereby induce parkinsonism. MPTP is, however, not normally present in the environment whereas the ß-carbolines are present in cooked food and tobacco smoke. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : In mammals the basic helix-loop-helix/Per-Arnt-Sim (bHLH/PAS) family of transcription factors includes the dioxin receptor which is a ligand-dependent transcription factor which mediates biological effects of environmental pollutants such as 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-rho-dioxin (dioxin). In the absence of ligand, the dioxin receptor is associated with the molecular chaperone Hsp90 and two Hsp90interacting proteins, the co-chaperone p23 and an immunophilin-like protein XAP2. LÄS MER
