  1. 1. The streptococcal IgG degrading enzyme IdeS studies on host-pathogen interactions

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Umeå universitet

    Författare :Jenny Johansson Söderberg; Umeå universitet.; [2012]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; streptococcus pyogenes; IdeS; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : The important human pathogen Streptococcus pyogenes causes both mild infections such as pharyngitis and impetigo but also severe life threatening invasive infections.  Specific antibodies (IgG) recognize pathogens and are important mediators for pathogen clearance by the immune defence. 2. 2. Regulation of inflammasomes by host- and pathogen-derived factors

    Detta är en avhandling från Lund University: Faculty of Medicine

    Författare :Dora Hancz; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Innate Immunity; pattern recognition receptors; inflammasome; Streptococcus pyogenes;

    Sammanfattning : The term inflammasome was first coined in 2002 and describes an intracellular multiprotein complex mediating inflammation by inducing the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β and IL-18) and a lytic form of cell death called pyroptosis. Since then, an impressive amount of research has revealed many details about the mechanisms of inflammasome activation as well as the functional relevance of inflammasome activation in different contexts. 3. 3. On the effects of Streptococcal NAD+-glycohydrolase and Streptolysin O on macrophages

    Detta är en avhandling från Lund University: Faculty of Medicine

    Författare :Elsa Westerlund; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2019]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Innate immunity; macrophage; Streptococcus pyogenes; IL-1beta; Nad -glycohydrolase;

    Sammanfattning : SummaryThe human pathogen Streptococcus pyogenes (GAS) causes both superficial infections, such as strep throat, and invasive infections, such as necrotizing fasciitis, and is responsible for about half a million deaths each year. The number of GAS infections have increased since the 1980’s, due to the emergence of a M1T1 strain that has become widely disseminated. LÄS MER

  4. 4. NMR studies of host-pathogen interactions

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå

    Författare :Katja Petzold; Umeå universitet.; [2009]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NMR; regulatory RNA; HBV; H.pylori; phospholipids; ROESY; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry Molecular biophysics; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi Molekylär biofysik; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the use of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) for characterizing two host-pathogen interactions: The behavior of a regulatory RNA of the Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and the attachment of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) to the gastric mucosa. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Streptococci and Platelets - A Study of Host-Pathogen Interaction Dynamics

    Detta är en avhandling från Division of Infection Medicine

    Författare :Lisbeth Svensson; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2015]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; host-pathogen interactions; bacterial entrapment; disaggregation; aggregation; platelet activation; Streptococci;

    Sammanfattning : Invasive infections remains one of the leading causes of death due to infections over the world, and efficient treatment remains elusive. One of the major causes of sepsis and other invasive infections is pathogenic streptococci that cause a wide range of clinical manifestations in humans. LÄS MER
