  1. 1. Ageing-associated changes of lysosomal compartment : implications on cellular functions

    Författare :Yuri Stroikin; Ulf Brunk; Alexei Terman; Karin Öllinger; Suresh Rattan; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Ageing; Apoptosis; Biological gabarge; Hormesis; Lipofuscin; Lysosome; Pathology; Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : The lysosomal compartment is a major site for intracellular degradation. Lysosomal degradation of the cell’s own constituents, so-called autophagy, not only provides a cell with nutrients, but also removes damaged and potentially dangerous endogenous structures, thus securing intracellular homeostasis. 2. 2. In Vitro Studies of Adrenocorticolytic DDT Metabolites, with Special Focus on 3-methylsulfonyl-DDE

    Författare :Vendela Asp; Ingvar Brandt; Ulrika Bergström; Olle Söder; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Toxicity; 3-methylsulfonyl-DDE; CYP; adrenal cortex; metabolic activation; steroid hormones; Y-1; H295R; mitotane; adrenocortical carcinoma; Toxicology; Toxikologi; Biologi med inriktning mot ekotoxikologi; Biology with specialization in Environmental Toxicology;

    Sammanfattning : The DDT metabolite 3-methylsulfonyl-DDE (3-MeSO2-DDE) is bioactivated by cytochrome P450 11B1 (CYP11B1) in the adrenal cortex of mice and forms irreversibly bound protein adducts, reduces glucocorticoid secretion, and induces cell death selectively in cortisol-producing adrenocortical cells. 3-MeSO2-DDE has therefore been proposed as a lead compound for an improved adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) therapy. 3. 3. Randomised clinical trials with hyperbaric oxygen in COVID-19 and Long COVID : transcriptomic insights into benefits and harms

    Författare :Anders Kjellberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The flow from transcription of genes through translation and processing of proteins is a common basis for all life. Redox homeostasis is crucial for the defence against oxidative stress. We adapt through hormesis; non-lethal stress regulates redox-sensitive systems to maintain homeostasis. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Immunotoxicology in Marine Invertebrates - Effects of Manganese on Immune Response

    Författare :Carolina A. M. Oweson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Invertebrates; Immune system; Haemocytes; Manganese Mn ; Immunotoxicology; Crustacea; Mollusca; Echinodermata;

    Sammanfattning : Manganese, Mn, is an abundant element in nature, particularly in soft bottom sediments of the oceans and in bedrock. The metal is predominantly bound to the sediment in the colloid state, MnO2. LÄS MER
