6. Healthy Satiety Effects of Paleolithic diet on Satiety and Risk factors for Cardiovascular disease
Sammanfattning : The prevalence of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) exhibits considerable variation across agrarian societies, whereas they are virtually absent in non-agrarian societies such as hunter-gatherer and horticultural societies. When looking for lifestyle factors which could promote CVD, it therefore seems logical to focus on the agrarian lifestyle and ways in which it departs from a non-agrarian lifestyle. LÄS MER
7. Endothelin and angiotensin II receptors in human coronary arteries and bypass grafts - Alterations in cardiovascular disease
Sammanfattning : Angiotensin II (Ang II) and endothelin-1 (ET-1) induce strong vasoconstriction via activation of receptors on vascular smooth muscle cells. In this thesis, the contractile Ang II and endothelin receptors were examined in endothelium-denuded human coronary arteries and in bypass grafts (the left internal mammary artery and the saphenous vein), with focus on receptor alterations in cardiovascular disease. 8. Role of lipoprotein structure and dynamics in disease development : from atherosclerosis to Covid-19
Sammanfattning : Lipoproteins play a crucial role in lipid metabolism, serving as carriers for lipids such as cholesterol and triglycerides in the bloodstream. Atherosclerosis is a complex cardiovascular disease characterized by the accumulation of cholesterol-rich plaques in arterial walls, leading to narrowed and hardened arteries. LÄS MER
9. Mechanical Properties of Arteries : Identification and Application
Sammanfattning : In this Licentiate of Engineering thesis, a method is proposed that identifies the mechanical properties of arteries in vivo. The mechanical properties of an artery are linked to the development of cardiovascular diseases. LÄS MER
10. Vascular mechanical properties and endothelial function with special reference to pregnancy and hormonal influences
Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity. Early recognition of vascular changes, both structural and functional, may help to identify individuals at risk for CVD. LÄS MER
