  1. 1. THE ROLE OF DENDRITIC CELLS AND TYPE I INTERFERON IN THE GENERATION AND FUNCTION OF T FOLLICULAR HELPER CELLS

    Författare :Helena Cucak; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; T follicular helper cells; Type I interferon; Dendritic cells;

    Sammanfattning : Generation of long-lived plasma cells and memory B cells of high affinity takes place in germinal centers and depends on help from a specialized CD4+ T cell subset termed T follicular helper (Tfh) cells. These processes are crucial for long-term protection upon natural infection or in settings of vaccination, however they are also responsible for development of antibody-mediated autoimmune disease. 2. 2. The Colonization Strategies of Nontypeable Haemophilus influenzae - Bacterial Colonization Factors and Vaccine Development

    Författare :Farshid Jalalvand; Malmö Klinisk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ABC-transporter; bacterial colonization; Haemophilus influenzae; Haemophilus Protein F; laminin; NTHi; pathogenesis; vaccine; virulence; vitronectin.;

    Sammanfattning : Nontypeable Haemophilus influenzae (NTHi) is a remarkably proficient colonizer of the human respiratory tract. The aim of this thesis has been to characterize currently known, and identify novel, bacterial factors involved in the key processes of colonization and pathogenesis, namely adherence to host tissue and evasion of the host innate immunity. 3. 3. Regulation of lymphocyte activation and death

    Författare :Hanna Lindgren; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; N-substituted benzamides; apoptosis; NF-kB; NFAT; T cells; CD40L; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : T lymohocytes (T cells) and B lymphocytes (B cells) are important effector cells of the adaptive immune system. In response to infections, B cells are activated and produce antibodies against specific antigens. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Complement in Autoimmunity - the importance of clearing waste

    Författare :Jonatan Leffler; Malmö Proteinkemi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; annexins; apoptosis; Complement system; neutrophil extracellular traps; systemic lupus erythematosus; C1q; factor H; histones;

    Sammanfattning : Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease where improperly cleared apoptotic cells and neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) induce an autoimmune response. Complement is crucial to prevent SLE by tailoring immune responses and opsonizing dead cells but may also induce inflammation and tissue damage once the disease is initiated. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Immunoglobulin-binding bacterial surface proteins; biomedical tools and virulence factors

    Författare :Britt-Marie Kihlberg; Infektionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Phagocytosis; M-like protein; M protein; Protein L; Protein G; Ig-binding; Streptococcus pyogenes; Fc Receptors; mykologi; virologi; bakteriologi; Mikrobiologi; mycology; virology; bacteriology; Microbiology; Cysteine proteinase; Streptolysin;

    Sammanfattning : Many bacteria express immunoglobulin(Ig)-binding proteins that interact with Ig in a non-immune manner. Several of these Ig-binding bacterial proteins have been well characterized and are widely used as reagents for analysis and purification of Ig's. LÄS MER
