1. Afloat and Aflame. Deconstructing the Long 19th century Port City Gothenburg through Newspaper Archaeology
Sammanfattning : In line with the international historical-archaeological discipline, this study aims to increase knowledge of marginalising processes and disenfranchised groups in the past and to contribute to the recognised Swedish need to augment the know-how of researching people ‘of little note’ in urban environments. The study aspires a theoretically engaged empirical alternative for developing new knowledge about urban places which are not possible to excavate or where archaeological data is insufficient, while evincing how digitized historical newspapers can step in as a multifaceted historical- archaeological source. 2. Coal Lives : Italians and the Metabolism of Coal in Wallonia, Belgium, 1945-1980
Sammanfattning : This manuscript focuses on the relationship between coal and the history of the over 300,000 Italian miners who moved to Wallonia, Belgium, from 1946 onwards, in accordance to the State agreement between Italy and Belgium known as “men in exchange for coal.” Notably, I use environmental history of migration to analyze what I define as “the metabolism of coal. Sammanfattning : The modal share of bicycle traffic in Stockholm increased from 20 per cent to over 30 per cent during the 1930s, and reached staggering levels during World War Two – peaking at over 70 per cent. Soon after the war, however, the share declined rapidly. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : The purpose of the present dissertation is to investigate the judicial status of townswomen in 17th- centuiy Sweden. How is the gender system reproduced during this period? Did any decisive changes in gender relations take place, and if so, how should they be understood?Both secular and church legislation is studied, along with the deliberations of the legal commission of 1686. 5. Den klassicistiska vändningen i det tidiga 1900-talets svenska arkitektur : En studie av Liljevalchs konsthall, Kungstornen och Kanslihuset i Stockholm
Sammanfattning : The starting point of the thesis consists of a number of statements by prominent representatives of the cultural elite characterising architecture with references to classicism as the modern architecture. In the following years Swedish architecture was dominated by references to classical historical architecture focussing on the ideal of simplicity, which in turn formed a wider conceptual framework of ideas and ideals for architectural creation.
