Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is, from a gender perspective, to illuminate and analyze the position of female post-graduates, within and in relation to the male dominated state universities and private university colleges in Sweden during 1883-1949. 3. Embracing Science : Sino-Swedish Collaborations in the Field Sciences, 1902–1935
Sammanfattning : In 1902, a Swedish professor at Shanxi University started to study the region’s geology and in 1913, he suggested to the Chinese Republican Government an expansion of these surveys nationwide. As a result, the Head of the Geological Survey of Sweden, J. G. Andersson, was employed as a geological adviser to the Chinese Government. LÄS MER
4. Where Scholars are Made : Gendered Arenas of Persona Formation in Finnish Folkloristics, 1918–1932
Sammanfattning : This dissertation investigates how two Finnish folklorists, Elsa Enäjärvi (1901–1951) and Martti Haavio (1899–1973), obtained information about perceptions of what constituted good and acknowledged scholars and how they responded to these implicit and explicit expectations and requirements. The dissertation uses the concept of scholarly persona as an analytical tool to identify notions of good scholars as well as Enäjärvi’s and Haavio’s processes to form themselves as such. LÄS MER
5. Historielärobokens föreställningar : Påbjuden identifikation och genreförändring i den obligatoriska skolan 1870–2000
Sammanfattning : This thesis sets out to address the question: How is Swedish history put forward as expected identification in history textbooks for the years of compulsory schooling and how did this change during the period 1870-2000? This question is legitimate since the writing of history is a form of meaning-creation that is built through the merging of different components (place, time, actors, objectives, etc.) into a coherent narrative.
