1. The morphology and evolutionary significance of the anomalocaridids
Sammanfattning : Approximately 600 to 500 million years ago, a major evolutionary radiation called the “Cambrian Explosion” gave rise to nearly all of the major animal phyla known today. This radiation is recorded by various fossil lagerstätten, such as the Burgess Shale in Canada, where soft-bodied animals are preserved in exquisite detail. LÄS MER
2. Shipborne geophysical study of an Ordovician-Silurian carbonate platform, Fårö - Hiiumaa area, northeastern Baltic Sea
Sammanfattning : The lithological-stratigraphical subdivision, the internal structure and the present relief of the Lower Paleozoic bedrock sequence was investigated by means of high resolution shallow marine seismic reflection profiling in the northeastern Baltic Sea.The Cambrian, as well as the lowermost Silurian layers, show rapidly changing lithologies and thicknesses and provide no trans-Baltic seismic reflectors. 3. Palaeobiology and taphonomy of early problematic fossils
Sammanfattning : Extinct organisms that cannot be accommodated in any extant phylum are generally referred to as "problematic fossils". They are more numerous in progressively older strata and constitute an important part of the late Proterozoic and early Palaeozoic biota. LÄS MER
4. Neoproterozoic-Early Cambrian organic-walled microfossils : Ultrastructural and biogeochemical search for their affinities
Sammanfattning : The Neoproterozoic-Cambrian transition is marked by conspicuous radiation of skeletal fauna comparable to modern invertebrates. Phylogenetic relationships of living organisms, based on their genetic and ultrastructural complexity, suggest that most prokaryotic and protistan organisms should have evolved by the time of origination of coelomate organisms. 5. Conodont biostratigraphy and diversity in The Lower-Middle Ordovician of Eastern Baltoscandia (St. Petersburg region, Russia) and Kazakhstan
Sammanfattning : Conodonts were first discovered and described by Christian Pander in 1856 from the St. Petersburg region. LÄS MER
