1. Performance of High-temperature Coatings : Oxidation and Interdiffusion
Sammanfattning : The use of aluminiferous coatings profoundly improves the service life of superalloys but leads to the microstructural degradation of superalloys and thus the loss of mechanical properties. To solve this trade-off, two strategies were employed in this research. LÄS MER
2. Thermal and Mechanical Behaviors of High Temperature Coatings
Sammanfattning : With superior oxidation and corrosion resistance, metallic coatings (i.e. diffusion coatings and MCrAlX coatings) are widely used to protect hot components made of superalloys in turbine engines. LÄS MER
3. District Cooling – Towards Improved Substation Performance
Sammanfattning : The global cooling demand in buildings is rapidly increasing and to supply this demand, district cooling is one solution. However, many district cooling systems suffer from low delta-Ts (receiving low return temperatures from the buildings connected to the system). LÄS MER
4. Deformation mechanisms and load distribution in multi-phase engineering materials
Sammanfattning : While the transition to carbon neutral technologies is still in progress, it is vital to reduce the environmental impact of existing processes. The efficiency of combustion processes for e.g. power generation and aviation can be greatly improved by increasing the operating temperature. LÄS MER
5. Thermal and mechanical studies of carbon nanotube-polymer composites synthesized at high pressure and high temperature
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, thermal and mechanical properties of polymers and carbon nanotubes-polymer composites, which were modified and studied under high pressure, are presented. The results concern the thermal conductivity κ and heat capacity per unit volume ρcp of pure polymers: polyisoprene (PI), polybutadiene (PB), and nylon-6, and their multi-wall and single-wall carbon nanotube (MWCNT and SWCNT) composites both before (untreated) and after high pressure treatments.
