1. Alloy Design and Optimization of Mechanical Properties of High-Entropy Alloys
Sammanfattning : High-entropy alloys (HEAs) are described as alloys containing multi-principal elements in equal or close to equal atomic percentage. HEAs are considered as potential structural materials for high-temperature applications; where alloy design and optimization of mechanical properties is extremely critical. LÄS MER
2. Refractory High-entropy Alloy and Nitride Thin Films
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on understanding the process-structure-property relation-ships for several refractory-metal-based high-entropy alloys and nitrides synthesized by magnetron sputtering. The thesis begins with the growth of TiZrNbTaNx understoichiometric nitrides by controlling substrate temperature and nitrogen flow ratio fN. LÄS MER
3. Hunting Hydrogen : Structure-property relations in High Entropy Alloy-based metal hydrides
Sammanfattning : Metal hydrides have many uses when switching the energy system from fossil fuels to renewable sources, such as rechargeable batteries, hydrogen storage, hydrogen compression and thermal storage. State of the art materials for these applications such as LaNi5 and TiFe, however, suffer certain limitations such as degradation during repeated hydrogen cycling and harsh activation conditions for initial hydrogen uptake, promoting the need for novel materials. 4. Additive Manufacturing of Ferritic Materials : A Journey from Stainless Steels to High-Entropy Alloys
Sammanfattning : Design of new materials with complex geometries is an important part of new innovative solutions for technical applications. With the use of additive manufacturing (AM), the design possibilities are endless and geometries that are impossible to manufacture by conventional techniques are available. LÄS MER
5. Theoretical Investigations of High-Entropy Alloys
Sammanfattning : High-entropy alloys (HEAs) are composed of multi-principal elements with equal or near-equal concentrations, which open up a vast compositional space for alloy design. Based on first-principle theory, we focus on the fundamental characteristics of the reported HEAs, as well as on the optimization and prediction of alternative HEAs with promising technological applications.
