1. Transmission Electron Microscopy of 2D Materials : Structure and Surface Properties
Sammanfattning : During recent years, new types of materials have been discovered with unique properties. One family of such materials are two-dimensional materials, which include graphene and MXene. These materials are stronger, more flexible, and have higher conductivity than other materials. As such they are highly interesting for new applications, e. LÄS MER
2. Transmission Electron Microscopy of Graphene and Hydrated Biomaterial Nanostructures : Novel Techniques and Analysis
Sammanfattning : Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) on light element materials and soft matters is problematic due to electron irradiation damage and low contrast. In this doctoral thesis techniques were developed to address some of those issues and successfully characterize these materials at high resolution. LÄS MER
3. Transmission Electron Microscopy of Semiconductor Nanowires
Sammanfattning : Semiconductor nanowires are studied by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) based methods in this work. In the first section, the growth mechanism of gallium arsenide nanowires grown by chemical beam epitaxy is investigated. The nanowires are epitaxially grown from a gallium arsenide substrate by using gold seed particles as catalysts. LÄS MER
4. Image Processing in High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy of Inorganic Materials
Sammanfattning : High resolution transmission electron microscopy and digital image processing has been used to investigate the structure and properties of inorganic materials. The image processing was performed with the programming language Semper. All routines are listed in the appendix. LÄS MER
5. 3D Electron crystallography : Real space reconstruction and reciprocal space tomography
Sammanfattning : Electron crystallography is an important technique for studying micro- and nano-sized materials. It has two important advantages over X-ray crystallography for structural studies: 1) crystals millions of times smaller than those needed for X-ray diffraction can be studied; 2) it is possible to; focus the electrons to form an image.
