  1. 1. Joint Interface Effects on Machining System Vibration

    Författare :Qilin Fu; Cornel-Mihai Nicolescu; Tomas Beno; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Joint Interface; Vibration; Damping; Chatter; Machining; Carbon NanoComposite; PECVD; HiPIMS; SRA - Production; SRA - Produktion; Järnvägsgruppen - Ljud och vibrationer; Järnvägsgruppen - Ljud och vibrationer;

    Sammanfattning : Vibration problems are still the major constraint in modern machining processes that seek higher material removal rate, shorter process time, longer tool life and better product quality. Depending on the process, the weaker structure element can be the tool/tool holder, workpiece/fixture or both. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Improving Machining System Performance through designed-in Damping : Modelling, Analysis and Design Solutions

    Författare :Lorenzo Daghini; Cornel Mihai Nicolescu; Miroslav Píška; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machining performance; Cutting stability; Passive damping; High Damping Interface; Boring bar; Turret; SRA - Production; SRA - Produktion;

    Sammanfattning : With advances in material technology, allowing, for instance, engines to withstand higher combustion pressure and consequently improving performance, comes challenges to productivity. These materials are, in fact, more difficult to machine with regards to tool wear and especially machine tool stability. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Vibration control requires high dynamic stiffness in mechanical structures for a reliable performance under extreme conditions. Dynamic stiffness composes the parameters of stiffness (K) and damping (η) that are usually in a trade-off relationship. This thesis study aims to break the trade-off relationship. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Controlling the dynamic characteristics of machining systems through consciously designed joint interfaces

    Författare :Constantinos Frangoudis; Cornel Mihai Nicolescu; Amir Rashid; Bulent Tasdelent; KTH; []

    Sammanfattning : The precision of machining systems is ever increasing in order to keep up with components’ accuracy requirements. At the same time product variants areincreasing and order quantities are decreasing, which introduces high demands on the capability of machining systems. LÄS MER

  5. 5. On efficient and adaptive modelling of friction damping in bladed disks

    Författare :Mohammad Afzal; Leif Kari; Ines Lopez Arteaga; Muzio M Gola; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High cycle fatigue; Friction contact; Jacobian matrix; Shroud contact; Strip damper; Multiharmonic balance method; Contact stiffness; Cyclic symmetry; Nodal diameter; Magnetostrictive actuator; Magnetic field; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : This work focuses on efficient modelling and adaptive control of friction damping in bladed disks. To efficiently simulate the friction contact, a full-3D time-discrete contact model is reformulated and an analytical expression for the Jacobian matrix is derived that reduces the computation time drastically with respect to the classical finite difference method.
