  1. 1. Phenomenology of Higgs Bosons Beyond the Standard Model

    Författare :Glenn Wouda; Rikard Enberg; Gunnar Ingelman; Johan Rathsman; Rui Santos; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Particle physics; The Standard Model; Higgs bosons; Higgs mechanism; Beyond the Standard Model; Two Higgs Doublet Models; Charged Higgs boson; Higgs decays; Supersymmetry; Renormalization; LHC; Collider constraints; Fysik med inriktning mot elementarpartikelfysik; Physics with specialization in Elementary Particle Physics;

    Sammanfattning : After a long history of searches, a Higgs boson H was discovered by the ATLAS and the CMS experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in 2012. Its properties fit well the ones predicted by the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics. However, the SM can not explain other established properties of Nature, such as the existence of Dark Matter. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Searches for Higgs bosons with hadronically decaying τ-leptons : Using Grid and Cloud computing techniques

    Författare :Henrik Öhman; Arnaud Ferrari; Paula Eerola; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LHC; ATLAS; Higgs; Charged Higgs; Tau lepton; 2HDM; MSSM; Fysik med inriktning mot elementarpartikelfysik; Physics with specialization in Elementary Particle Physics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes a measurement of the Standard Model Higgs boson coupling to fermions in decays to two τ-leptons, a search for charged Higgs bosons in decays to a τ-lepton and a neutrino, as well as the reconstruction, identification and triggering of hadronically decaying τ-leptons. The data considered are collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Effects of the Higgs field on Inflation and Reheating

    Författare :Aliki Litsa; Katherine Freese; Jens Jasche; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; inflation; reheating; Higgs; non-gaussianity; cosmological perturbations; Theoretical Physics; teoretisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : The model of inflation - a period of accelerated expansion in the very early Universe - was introduced to give solutions to a number of problems encountered in the Standard Big Bang paradigm. Additionally, due to its quantum nature, inflation is able to generate the necessary primordial inhomogeneity “seeds”, which eventually evolve into large-scale structures. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Phenomenology of Charged Higgs Bosons and B-meson Decays

    Författare :David Eriksson; Johan Rathsman; Gunnar Ingelman; Fabio Maltoni; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Supersymmetry; Beyond Standard Model; B-Physics; Charged Higgs Boson; LHC; QCD; Spin Correlations; CMSSM; NUHM; Elementary particle physics; Elementarpartikelfysik;

    Sammanfattning : For more than 30 years the Standard Model has been the theoretical foundation for particle physics. The theory has been verified successfully by experimental tests. Its biggest shortcoming is the non-discovery of the Higgs boson,responsible for giving the other particles masses. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Charged Higgs Bosons at the ATLAS Experiment and Beyond

    Författare :Elias Coniavitis; Richard Brenner; Tord Ekelöf; Johan Rathsman; Marco Battaglia; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; particle physics; Standard Model; beyond the Standard Model; supersymmetry; MSSM; Higgs physics; charged Higgs boson; LHC; ATLAS; ATLAS Semi-Conductor Tracker; SCT; tau lepton; Lorentz angle; CLIC; Elementary particle physics; Elementarpartikelfysik; High Energy Physics; Högenergifysik;

    Sammanfattning : In the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, direct searches for the elusive Higgs boson will be conducted, as well as for physics beyond the Standard Model. The charged Higgs boson (H±) is interesting both as a part of the Higgs sector, and as a clear sign of new physics. LÄS MER
