  1. 1. Smart Cooperation with Network Coding in Hierarchical Wireless Networks

    Författare :Nan Li; Lars Kildehöj Rasmussen; Daniel Lucani; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wireless communications; Hierarchical networks; 5G; Cognitive radio; Internet of Things; Cooperative communications; Spectrum sharing; Network coding; Optimization; Performance analysis.; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : To achieve more dynamic, efficient and intelligent use of the scarce wireless spectrum resource, the concept of cooperation has been formalized into several hierarchical network models in future mobile networks. Cooperative communications, such as relaying, can potentially increase communication efficiency and spectrum utilization due to the broadcast nature of wireless networks, and may lead to a better support for diverse communication modes with flexible spectrum sharing. 2. 2. Spatial analysis and modeling of urban transportation networks

    Författare :Jingyi Lin; Yifang Ban; Sten Henning Hansen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Complex networks; transportation systems; network growth; Evolving networks; centrality; urban systems; topology; space syntax; spatial networks; distance effects; gravity laws; planarity; street network patterns; US airline system; China’s aviation system; network efficiency; cellular structure; hierarchy; network representations; Geodesy and Geoinformatics; Geodesi och geoinformatik;

    Sammanfattning : Transport systems in general, and urban transportation systems in particular, are the backbone of a country or a city, therefore play an intrinsic role in the socio-economic development. There have been numerous studies on real transportation systems from multiple fileds, including geography, urban planning, and engineering. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Towards the Visualization of Multivariate Biochemical Networks

    Författare :Ilir Jusufi; Andreas Kerren; Heidrun Schumann; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Information Visualization; Biological Networks; Multivariate Networks; Biological Visualization; Computer Science; Datavetenskap; Information and software visualization; Informations- och programvisualisering;

    Sammanfattning :  Many open challenges exist when dealing with different biological networks. They are crucial for the understanding of living beings. Complete drawings of these typically large networks usually suffer from clutter and visual overload. In order to overcome this issue, the networks are divided into single, hierarchically structured pathways. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Hierarchical Modeling of Road Traffic Networks

    Författare :Eugene Merritt; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :traffic simulation models; calibration and validation; field data collection;

    Sammanfattning : The main objective of the thesis was to develop and applymethodologies for analysis and evaluation of the applicabilityof different types of road traffic simulation models for urbantraffic conditions. For this purpose a number of models ofmacroscopic, mesoscopic and microscopic type were applied,calibrated, validated and analyzed using extensive field datacollection to obtain traffic flow, travel time and queue-lengthdata for major road networks in Stockholm and Uppsala. 5. 5. Mapping incomplete relational data : networks in ecology & evolution

    Författare :Daniel Edler; Martin Rosvall; Alexandre Antonelli; Renaud Lambiotte; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; network science; information theory; map equation; community detection; biogeography; evolution;

    Sammanfattning : We live in an interconnected world full of complex systems that cannot be understood simply by analyzing their components. From how genes regulate biological functions to the distribution of life on Earth, we need methods that can analyze systems as a whole. LÄS MER
