21. Plant Aquaporins: A study of expression, localization, specificity, and regulation
Sammanfattning : Aquaporins, or Major Intrinsic Proteins (MIPs), are integral proteins that facilitate transport of water and other small neutral solutes across biological membranes. They belong to a well conserved and ancient family of proteins, present in all organisms ranging from bacteria to plants and humans. LÄS MER
22. Rational and combinatorial genetic engineering approaches for improved recombinant protein production and purification
Sammanfattning : The bacterium Escherichia coli (E. coli) is in many situations an ideal host for production of recombinant proteins, since it generally provides a rapid and economical means to achieve sufficiently high product quantities. LÄS MER
23. Functional genomics at the interface of protein expression and biophysical analysis
Sammanfattning : Protein characterization is central to any functional genomics effort, hence protein expression and purification play fundamental roles in these initiatives. In this study strategies for protein expression in E. coli were analysed, and several parameters were investigated respect to high-level expression of functional proteins. LÄS MER
24. In vitro and in vivo oxidation of diastereomers of lignin models of arylgylcerol b-aryl ether type and heterologous expression of laccase
Sammanfattning : Enzymic and non-enzymic oxidation of lignin models of the arylglycerol β-aryl ether type was investigated in experiments aimed at providing a better understanding of the initial phase of biological lignin degradation. Product profiles and diasteromer selectivity were determined to gain knowledge of the properties of the oxidants and pave the way for evaluation of the presence of the oxidants in ligninolytic fungal cultures. 25. Thermostable Phytase from a Bacillus sp.: Heterologous Production, Mutation, Characterization and Assay Development
Sammanfattning : Phytase is an important enzyme in the food/feed industry. It catalyzes the hydrolysis of phytate, an anti-nutrient compound present in cereals and grains, to release orthophosphate and myo-inositol-6-phosphate with lower degrees of phosphorylation. LÄS MER
