  1. 1. Protamine, Platelet Function and Coagulation in Cardiac Surgery

    Författare :Mattias Törnudd; Sören Berg; John-Peder Escobar Kvitting; Sofia Ramström; Joakim Alfredsson; Ulf Schött; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiopulmonary bypass; Protamine; Platelet function; Coagulation;

    Sammanfattning : Bleeding is a serious and common complication in cardiac surgery. Complicated surgery together with alterations in hemostatic conditions from the use of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), presents challenges in how to preserve hemostasis in the patient.   CPB is thought to affect platelet function and coagulation in many ways. 2. 2. Hemostatic function and inflammatory activation after weaning from cardio pulmonary bypass

    Författare :Anki Olsson; Sören Berg; Joakim Alfredsson; Rolf Svedjeholm; Erik Håkansson; Tomas Gudbjartsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) contributes to perioperative platelet dysfunction, increased fibrinolysis and impaired coagulation, which can have an impact on postoperative bleeding. During CPB the blood is exposed to foreign surfaces leading to activation of the coagulation system and a systemic inflammatory response with complement and leukocyte activation. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Cardiovascular function and biomarkers in women with preeclampsia

    Författare :Rangeen Rafik Hamad; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Preeclampsia; endothelial function; FMD; thrombin; microparticle; menstrual cycle; ventricular diastolic function; echocardiography; NT-pro-BNP; cystatin C; CRP; inflammation; hemostasis; Pentraxin 3; angiogenesis; pregnancy; follow-up;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Preeclampsia (PE) is a multisystem disorder peculiar to human pregnancy and characterized by the onset of hypertension and proteinuria after the 20th week of gestation. The pathophysiology of this disorder is still not clear. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Development of a New Biomechanical ex vivo Perfusion System - Studies on effects of biomechanical and inflammatory stress on hemostatic genes in human vascular endothelium

    Författare :Niklas Bergh; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ex vivo perfusion system; biomechanical; endothelium; shear stress; tensile stress; pulsatile; TNF-α; JNK; hemostatic genes;

    Sammanfattning : The vascular endothelium is a multifunctional interface constantly exposed to biomechanical forces such as shear and tensile stress. Biomechanical stress is involved in the pathophysiological process of the vessel wall and thus affects vascular remodeling, atherosclerosis and thrombogenesis. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The Plasma Contact System : New Functional Insights from a Hemostatic and Thrombotic Perspective

    Författare :Jennie Bäck; Bo Nilsson; Kristina Nilsson Ekdahl; Ulla Hedner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Contact activation; factor XII; platelets; coagulation; antithrombin; C1 inhibitor; hemostasis; biomarkers; vascular disease.; Klinisk immunologi; Clinical Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : The physiological role of the plasma contact system still remains a partial enigma. The aim of the presented work was to expand our understanding of the plasma contact system, focusing on its physiological activation and function, principally from a hemostatic perspective. It also explored contact system activation under pathological conditions. LÄS MER
