  1. 1. Effects of Hemoglobin Normalization with Epoetin in Chronic Kidney Disease

    Författare :Hans Furuland; Björn Wikström; Torbjörn Linde; Peter Barany; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; Internal medicine; Anemia; blood viscosity; cardiac output; chronic kidney disease; renal dialysis; dialysis adequacy; erythopoietin; heart rate variability; hemoglobin; hemorheology; hypertension; kidney transplantation; Kt V; left ventricular hypertrophy; Quality of Life; Invärtesmedicin; Internal medicine; Invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Anemia is common in patients with chronic kidney disease (CDK), contributes to reduced Quality of Life (QoL) and is associated with cardiovascular disease, morbidity and mortality. Epoetin raises hemoglobin (Hb) and increases QoL and physical exercise capacity. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Blood flow and cell transport in arteries and medical assist devices

    Författare :Niclas Berg; Lisa Prahl Wittberg; Laszlo Fuchs; Mihai Mihaescu; Alessandro Veneziani; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hemodynamics; CFD; Artherosclerosis; Thrombosis; Platelet activation; Hemorheology; Platelet margination; Teknik och hälsa; Technology and Health;

    Sammanfattning : The cardiovascular system is responsible for transport of nutrients, oxygen, as well as the cells and molecules making up the immune system. Through the hemostatic system, the body maintains the integrity of the blood vessels, and prevents bleeding. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Erythropoiesis in anemia of rencl failure and malignancy : Studies on erythropoietin, iron, and transferrin receptor : by Soheir Beshara

    Författare :Soheir Beshara; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; erythropoiesis; anemia; renal transplantation; prostatic adenocarcinoma; erythropoietin; transferrin receptor; hemorheology positron emission tomography; iron hydroxide sucrose; pharmacokinetics; iron deficiency; 52Fe; 59Fe; red cell utilization; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Internal Medicine; invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Erythropoietin (Epo) and iron are essential requirements for erythropoiesis. Serum transferrin receptor (S-TfR) is a marker of total erythropoiesis and tissue iron availability. In patients with renal insufficiency, successful renal transplantation leads to correction of anemia and improvement in erythropoiesis. LÄS MER
