  1. 1. Mitochondrial plasmids, genetic conflicts and sex-determination in Silene vulgaris

    Författare :Helene Andersson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Silene vulgaris; sex-determination; mitochondrial plasmids; genetic conflicts; Botanik; Botany;

    Sammanfattning : Plants like all other eukaryotic organisms carry most of their DNA in the nucleus. In addition, plants also have both chloroplasts and mitochondria that contain their own genetic material. The genomes in chloroplasts and mitochondria control certain vital processes, but most often the organelles act under strict nuclear control. LÄS MER

  2. 2. MRSA and other resistant bacteria : prevalence, patient and staff experiences, wounds and infection control

    Författare :Helene Andersson; Bjöörn Fossum; Christina Lindholm; Mats Kalin; Eva Johansson; Sophiahemmet Högskola; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MRSA; VRE; ESBL; Colonization; Infection control; Wound; Patient experiences; Staff experiences; Nursing care; Qualitative interview; Qualitative content analysis; MRSA;

    Sammanfattning : Antibiotic resistance has become a major and serious global problem in healthcare. Limited treatment options for infections caused by these organisms can lead to increased morbidity and mortality. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Reactive gliosis in the injured brain: The effect of cell communication and Nrf2-mediated cellular defence

    Författare :Heléne Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Keywords: astrocyte; gap junction; Hmox1; microglia; Nrf2; Nqo1; oxidative stress; reactive gliosis;

    Sammanfattning : Stroke and other brain injuries trigger an extensive glial cell response referred to as reactive gliosis. Reactive gliosis is characterized by hypertrophic and proliferating astrocytes, proliferating microglia and NG2-positive cells, which eventually form a bordering glial scar around the damaged area. 4. 4. Dawn Raids under Challenge : A Study of the European Commission’s Dawn Raid Practices in Competition Cases from a Fundamental Rights Perspective

    Författare :Helene Andersson; Ulf Bernitz; Ingeborg Simonsson; Caroline Heide-Jörgensen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; cartels; competition law; dawn raids; EU law; fundamental rights; europeisk integrationsrätt; European Law;

    Sammanfattning : This doctoral dissertation examines the European Commission’s dawn raid practices in competition cases from a fundamental rights perspective. In recent years the Commission has adopted a new and more aggressive enforcement policy, which reflects the widespread understanding that cartels and abuse of market power are harmful to the economy and should be punished. Sammanfattning : Polymer blends are utilized for a variety of applications, not least in pharmaceutical coatings for controlled release of drugs. For instance, blends of ethyl cellulose (EC) and the water-soluble hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) can be used to coat drug pellets for oral extendedrelease formulations. LÄS MER
