  1. 11. Pathophysiological and Histomorphological Effects of One-Lung Ventilation in the Porcine Lung

    Författare :Alf Kozian; Göran Hedenstierna; Thomas Hachenberg; Filip Freden; Sten Walther; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Alveolar Recruitment Manoeuvre; One-Lung Ventilation; Lung Protective Ventilation; Tidal Volume; Computed Tomography; Tidal Recruitment; Animal Model; Open Thoracic Surgery; Ventilation Perfusion Distribution; Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography; Diffuse Alveolar Damage; Medical laboratory science; Medicinsk laboratorievetenskap; Anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology;

    Sammanfattning : Thoracic surgical procedures require partial or complete airway separation and the opportunity to exclude one lung from ventilation (one-lung ventilation, OLV). OLV is commonly associated with profound pathophysiological changes that may affect the postoperative outcome. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Effect of Ventilatory Support on Abdominal Fluid Balance in a Sepsis Model

    Författare :Marco Lattuada; Göran Hedenstierna; Filip Fredén; Anders Oldner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mechanical ventilation; lymph flow; spontaneous breathing; positive end-expiratory pressure; PEEP; abdominal edema; inflammation; intra-abdominal pressure; IAP; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care; Clinical Physiology; Klinisk fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : In patients affected by acute respiratory failure or acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) the leading cause of death is failure of different vital organs other than the lungs, so called multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). The abdominal organs have a crucial role in the pathogenesis of this syndrome. LÄS MER

  3. 13. The effect of mechanical ventilation on abdominal organs : Analysing the role of PEEP and perfusion

    Författare :Silvia Marchesi; Miklós Lipcsey; Anders Larsson; Göran Hedenstierna; Torbjörn Karlsson; Anders Oldner; Ragnvi Hagman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ARDS; sepsis; abdominal inflammation; edema; perfusion; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The effect of mechanical ventilation on abdominal organs is not well understood and investigated yet. Previous studies, using an animal sepsis-like model, found an association between mechanical ventilation (MV) and abdominal edema and inflammation. LÄS MER

  4. 14. The effect of mechanical ventilation on the abdominal organs

    Författare :Silvia Marchesi; Miklós Lipcsey; Anders Larsson; Göran Hedenstierna; Eddie Weitzberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Mechanical ventilation; abdominal organs; diffusion weighted imaging; magnetic resonance; perfusion; edema; inflammation; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care;

    Sammanfattning : During mechanical ventilation (MV), the interplay between abdomen and thorax has been studied unilaterally focusing on the effect that an increased abdominal pressure would have on the thorax. Only a small cluster of studies offered a different perspective showing a lower inflammation and a better lymphatic clearance of edema in abdominal organs when spontaneous breathing was applied compared to MV. 5. 15. A study on pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic effects of salbutamol-isomers

    Författare :Kerstin Naidu Sjöswärd; Göran Hedenstierna; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Astma är en kronisk inflammatorisk luftvägssjukdom som förekommer i hög - och enligt rapporter ökande - frekvens världen över. Defmitionen av astma inkluderar varierande luftvägsobstruktion och ökad bronkiell reaktivhet gentemot olika stimuli. LÄS MER
