16. Vascular Effects of P2 Receptors. Changes in Congestive Heart Failure
Sammanfattning : Extracellular nucleotides induce dilatation and constriction of blood vessels by activation of P2 receptors. In this thesis the vasomotor effects of P2 receptor activation were studied in the rat mesenteric artery, and their changes in congestive heart failure (CHF) were evaluated using in vitro pharmacology, electrophysiology and competitive RT-PCR. 17. Gender Aspects on Heart Failure
Sammanfattning : There is an increasing amount of data suggesting that there are inherent epidemiological and pathophysiological, as well as psychosocial differences between men and women with heart failure (HF). These differences may be so profound that they warrant differences in management and treatment. LÄS MER
18. Management of patients treated with left ventricular assist devices : A clinical and experimental study
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the management of patients treated with mechanical circulatory support devices for short- or long-term use. Twenty-four patients suffering from postcardiotomy heart failure were treated with a minimally invasive axial flow pump. LÄS MER
19. Clinical consequences after heart transplantation with reference to osteoporosis, renal function, and immunosuppression. Experiences from Skåne University Hospital in Lund 1988-2019
Sammanfattning : Background. Heart transplantation (HT) remains the ultimate final therapy for patients with end-stage heart failure. To prevent rejection of the allograft, life-long immunosuppressive therapy is required. LÄS MER
20. Echocardiographic assessment of ventricular size and function in heart transplant patients
Sammanfattning : AbstractThe overall aims of this thesis were to use echocardiography to non-invasively, delineate early structural andfunctional changes following orthotopic heart transplantation (OHT), and to define reference values in the contextof gender and bridging with mechanical circulatory support.Several factors might affect myocardial function in OHT patients rendering the use of normal values fortransthoracic echocardiography derived from healthy subjects unsatisfactory.
