1. Modelling and inference of relative collision safety in cars
Sammanfattning : We propose a new mathematical model for relative collision safety in cars. Our present research is restricted to head-on crashes between two cars and we try to determine how much of the injury risk in a crash that depends on car model. The relative risks include the driver populations of the different car models. LÄS MER
2. Snowmobile, motorcycle and moose-car accidents : aspects on injury control
Sammanfattning : Injuries related to snowmobiles, motorcycles and moose-car collisions have increased. The aim of the present thesis was to analyse mechanisms and consequences in fatal and non-fatal accidents of these types, and to penetrate possible preventive measures.SnowmobilesThe median age of the injured was 30 and of the killed 32, males predominating. 3. Towards On-line Learning Agents for Autonomous Navigation
Sammanfattning : The design of a mechatronic agent capable of navigating autonomously in a changing and perhaps previously unfamiliar environment is a very challenging issue. This thesis addresses this issue from both functional and system perspectives. LÄS MER
4. Prevention and prediction of head and neck injury in traffic accidents - using experimental and numerical methods
Sammanfattning : Injuries to the head and neck system are potentially amongthe most serious injuries in humans, since they may damage thespinal cord. It is therefore important to develop safetysystems that can prevent injuries to the neuro- system, therebyreducing human suffering and costs to society. LÄS MER
5. Epidemiological aspects on pain in whiplash-associated disorders
Sammanfattning : Introduction: Whiplash-associated disorders (WAD) are common after car collisions. Little is known about risk factors for onset of the injury or about factors influencing the recovery. Objective: The general objective of this thesis was to assess the influence of psychosocial factors on pain and disability in WAD. LÄS MER
