1. Microbial diversity in Baltic Sea sediments
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on microbial community structures and their functions in Baltic Sea sediments. First we investigated the distribution of archaea and bacteria in Baltic Sea sediments along a eutrophication gradient. LÄS MER
2. Submerged Landscapes in the Hanö Bay : Early Holocene shoreline displacement and human environments in the southern Baltic Basin
Sammanfattning : During times of lower global sea level, vast areas of the coastal shelf were exposed and converted into ecologically diverse coastal landscapes that wereattractive for human occupation. The landscapes were subsequently flooded during the deglaciation, but well-preserved remains of these landscapes andtheir inhabitants can today be found on the seafloor. LÄS MER
3. Planetary Timemaking : Paleoclimatology and the Temporalities of Environmental Knowledge, 1945-1990
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the history of paleoclimatology in the postwar period. It follows the trajectory of two climate proxy records – ice cores and deep-sea cores – in the North Atlantic region, from their emergence as scientific objects in the 1940s to their incorporation into Earth System Science in the 1980s. 4. Physical modelling of acoustic shallow-water communication channels
5. Silurian Carbonate Platforms of Gotland, Sweden - Archives of Local, Regional and Global Environmental Changes
Sammanfattning : This thesis treats the Silurian carbonate platforms of Gotland, Sweden, which formed close to the equator within the East Baltic Basin. Three different time intervals, all involving changes in facies composition and structure of the platforms, have been studied; Late Homerian, latest Homerian ? earliest Gorstian, and late Ludfordian, respectively.
