2. Mean Wind and Turbulence Conditions in the Boundary Layer above Forests
Sammanfattning : As wind turbines have grown, new installation areas become possible. Placing wind turbines in forested landscapes introduce uncertainties to the wind resource estimation. LÄS MER
3. Clinical and Genetic Studies of Hearing Impairment
Sammanfattning : Monogenic disorders offer a possibility for studies of genetic disturbances in hearing impairment—a knowledge which could be essential for development of future treatment options. In this thesis, the underlying genetic disturbances in neurofibromatosis 2 (NF2) and familial Meniere’s disease (FMD) were evaluated, and familial X-linked hearing impairment was described from a clinical point of view. 4. Hyperacusis : Clinical Studies and Effect of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
Sammanfattning : Hyperacusis is a type of decreased sound tolerance where the individual has decreased loudness discomfort levels (LDL), normal hearing thresholds and is sensitive to ordinary environmental sounds. Persons with hyperacusis frequently seek help at audiological departments as they are often affected by other audiological problems. LÄS MER
5. Mesoscale Processes over the Baltic Sea
Sammanfattning : The objective of this thesis is to study mesoscale processes above the Baltic Sea, which is a small, semi-enclosed sea where land-sea interaction may have a large impact on the offshore conditions. It is only the last tens of years that offshore research has become more popular, and one reason for this is the increasing offshore wind energy, which poses the need for accurate estimates of wind speed and turbulence conditions in the marine environment.
