   Sammanfattning : This work in two parts – entitled Symbolic Function and Meaning: An Investigation of the Species-Specific Essence of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy – could be characterized as an interpretation of the above-mentioned therapy and the meaning of its particular experience. In the first part, besides a licentiate thesis, four topics are examined: the therapeutic framework, the transference – especially in neurotic form – and its interpretation, psychotherapy with borderline patients, and therapy with psychotics.    Sammanfattning : Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are a public health issue of great importance worldwide, with effects on fertility and reproduction. Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae, causative agents of chlamydia and gonorrhoea, respectively, are the most common bacterial STIs with an estimated 127 million new global cases of chlamydia and 87 million new gonorrhoea cases.    Sammanfattning : Gamma spectroscopy and gamma emission tomography are two non-destructive measurement techniques for assessing the performance of nuclear fuel which have been investigated in this thesis for existing and novel applications through theoretical studies and experimental demonstrations. For assessment of individual fuel rods using gamma spectroscopy, fuel assemblies are dismantled so that the fuel rods may be measured separately, which is time-consuming and may cause damage to the fuel.
