  1. 1. Spatial and Temporal Variations of Solifluction and Related Environmental Parameters in the Abisko Mountains, Northern Sweden

    Författare :Hanna Ridefelt; Jan Boelhouwers; Antoni Lewkowicz; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; solifluction; movement rates; Abisko region; Geographical Information Systems; statistical modelling; geomorphic work; permafrost; Physical geography; Naturgeografi; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents an assessment of the variation in solifluction occurrence, morphometry and movement rates in the Abisko region, northern Sweden. Variations in movement rates are analyzed both on a regional and local scale. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The zoo-geomorphological impact of fossorial rodents in sub-polar alpine environments

    Författare :Bert Eriksson; Jan Boelhowers; John Östh; Hanna Ridefelt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; zoo-geomorphology; fossorial rodents; sub-polar; alpine; geomorphic work; ecosystem engineers; Physical geography; Naturgeografi; Geography; Geografi;

    Sammanfattning : The geomorphological impact of small fossorial mammals (adapted to digging and living underground), such as rodents can be significant, and both their direct and indirect effects may contribute to landscape formation. This thesis is based on empirical field studies of two burrowing rodent species in sub-polar environments, namely invasive House mice (Mus musculus) on sub-Antarctic Marion Island and Norwegian lemmings (Lemmus lemmus) in sub-Arctic Abisko. 3. 3. Ground freeze-thaw, snow and roads in northern Sweden

    Författare :Maria Sarady; Eva Sahlin; Magnus Bohlin; Hanna Ridefelt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Ground freeze-thaw; snow depth; roads; northern Sweden; geography; Geography; Geografi;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis freeze-thaw along roads in northern Sweden is examined. The examinations are put in a context of changing climate and its amplification towards the Arctic region on earth. The research focuses on the impact of a warmer climate on ground freeze-thaw and in exten- sion road maintenance in the region. LÄS MER
