  1. 1. Hamlet the Sign : Russian Translations of Hamlet and Literary Canon Formation

    Författare :Aleksei Semenenko; Lars Kleberg; Peter Alberg Jensen; Irena Makaryk; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Shakespeare; Hamlet; translation; literary canon formation; semiotics; canonicity; textuality; microcanon; genre; myth; sign; Slavic languages; Slaviska språk; slaviska språk; Slavic Languages;

    Sammanfattning : This work is an attempt to answer one simple question: What is Hamlet? Based on the material of Hamlet translations into Russian, the dissertation scrutinizes the problems of literary canon formation, translation and textuality proceeding in two parallel directions: the historical analysis of canon formation in translation and the conceptualization of Hamlet’s textuality. The methodological framework is defined in the context of Jurij Lotman’s semiotics of culture, which is invaluable for an understanding of the mechanisms of literary evolution, the theory of translation and literary canon formation. Författare :Oskar Hamlet; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tight maps; Tight homomorphisms; Maximal representations; Toledo invariant; Bounded Kähler class; Hermitian symmetric spaces; Bounded cohomology; Hermitian symmetric spaces;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the classification of tight totally geodesic maps between Hermitian symmetric spaces of noncompact type. In Paper I we classify holomorphic tight maps. We introduce a new criterion for tightness of Hermitian regular subalgebras. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Mechanisms of HAMLET-induced cancer cell death

    Författare :Sonja Aits; immunologi och glykobiologi - MIG Avdelningen för mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; alpha-actinin; prohibitin; alpha-lactalbumin; HAMLET; cancer; cell death; autophagy; focal adhesions; c-Myc; hexokinase; glycolysis;

    Sammanfattning : HAMLET, a complex of α-lactalbumin and oleic acid, preferentially kills cancer cells and is also effective in vivo. HAMLET causes apoptosis but cells die even if this pathway is inhibited. Thus, the role of autophagy, an alternative cell death pathway, was examined. LÄS MER

  5. 5. HAMLET - In vivo effects and mechanisms of tumor-cell death

    Författare :Lotta Gustafsson; immunologi och glykobiologi - MIG Avdelningen för mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biomedicinska vetenskaper; Biomedical sciences; proteasome stress; HAMLET; human milk; tumor-cell death; clinical trial; rat xenograft model; skin papilloma; glioblastoma;

    Sammanfattning : HAMLET (human alpha-lactalbumin made lethal to tumor cells), a molecular complex derived from human milk, is an interesting new tool in cancer research since it induces programmed cell death in tumor cells while leaving normal, differentiated cells unharmed. The in vivo effects of HAMLET were studied in a rat xenograft model of human glioblastoma. LÄS MER
