  1. 1. The function of seasonal habitat shifts in two congeneric mayflies in a boreal river

    Författare :Olle Söderström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; Habitat utilization; diel activity; orientation; predation; life-history; temperature; food quality; mayflies; Parameletus chelifer; Parameletus minor;

    Sammanfattning : Unregulated North Swedish rivers show large seasonal variations in their physical characteristics. During winter the whole littoral zone freezes solid, and in spring the water flow increases rapidly and the same areas become flooded. The two mayflies Parameletus chelifer and P. minor are common in the North Swedish river Vindelälven. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Ecology of bumblebees (Hymenoptera, Apidae) in a subalpine/alpine area with special reference to food plant and habitat utilization

    Författare :Hans Lundberg; Stockholms universitet; []

  3. 3. Road Ecology for Environmental Assessment

    Författare :Mårten Karlson; Berit Balfors; Ulla Mörtberg; Jo Treweek; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Roads; Railways; Biodiversity; Environmental Assessment; GIS; Decision Support; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Transport infrastructure is closely linked to several politically relevant sustainability issues, and since 1985 a formalized environmental assessment process is linked to planning and construction of new roads and railways in the EU (EU directives 85/337/EEC and 2001/42). The aim of the environmental assessment process is to think in advance; to identify, predict and evaluate significant environmental changes resulting from a proposed activity, in order to adjust the proposed activity accordingly and to avoid unnecessary and unexpected consequences. 4. 4. Oviposition strategies in butterflies and consequences for conservation

    Författare :Anders Bergström; Sören Nylin; Jeremy A. Thomas; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Oviposition strategies are an important component of life history evolution in insects. Oviposition is a complex behaviour, where females must locate suitable habitat patches, locate oviposition sites, evaluate the quality, and finally decide how many eggs to lay. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Energy balance during active carbon uptake and at excess irradiance in three marine macrophytes

    Författare :Herman Carr; Mats Björk; Lennart Axelsson; Félix López Figueroa; Stockholms universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : The marine environment is an important habitat where many processes occur that affect life conditions on earth. Macrophytes and planktonic oxygen evolvers are an essential component for almost all marine life forms and have developed in an environment that differs largely from the terrestrial habitats. LÄS MER
