  1. 1. Brominated flame retardants and perfluoroalkyl acids in Swedish indoor microenvironments : Implications for human exposure

    Författare :Justina Björklund; Cynthia de Wit; Thomas Webster; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PBDEs; HBCD; PFOS; PFOA; indoor air; indoor dust; breast milk; human exposure; emission; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Humans are exposed to persistent organic pollutants (POPs) such as brominated flame retardants (BFRs, specifically polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD)) and perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs, specifically perfluoroalkane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA)). They are used in consumer products found in cars, offices, homes and day care centers. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Irradiation of members of the general public from radioactive caesium following the Chernobyl reactor accident. Field studies in a highly contaminated area in the Bryansk region, Russia

    Författare :Charlotte Thornberg; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; medicinsk instrumentering; tomografi; radiologi; Klinisk fysiologi; body burden; Effective dose; Cs-137; urinary excretion; Cs-134; biological half-time; Chernobyl; breast milk; Medicine human and vertebrates ; internal irradiation; external irradiation; TLD; Clinical physics; radiology; medical instrumentation; tomography; Medicin människa och djur ; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : From 1990 to 1998, estimations of the effective dose from external as well as internal irradiation from 137Cs and 134Cs were carried out for inhabitants in rural villages in the Bryansk region, Russia, highly contaminated due to the Chernobyl accident in 1986. The villages were situated about 180 km from the Chernobyl power plant and the deposition of 137Cs was in the range 0. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Exosomes from lung and breast milk : regulators of immune responses

    Författare :Patricia Torregrosa Paredes; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Exosomes are key mediators of intercellular communication with the capacity to regulate immune responses, locally and distally. Most knowledge on exosomal function has been gained from exosomes generated from in vitro cell cultures, which has helped define the role of exosomes from specific cell types. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Lactobacillus reuteri in health and disease

    Författare :Gabriela Sinkiewicz; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :breast milk; lactobacilli; Lactobacillus reuteri; probiotics; Bifidobacteria; clostridium; faeces; Gingivitis; oral health;

    Sammanfattning : People have exploited fermentation by lactobacilli for centuries as a means of preparing and preserving foods. Several different bacterial species are today used as probiotic bacteria in different products both for human and animal applications. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Antibiotic resistance and pathogenesis of Streptococci with focus on Group A Streptococci

    Författare :Feiruz Alamiri; Malmö Experimentell infektionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Antibiotika resistens; Bröstmjölk; Luftvägsinfektioner; Biofilm bildning; Internalisering; Persistens; HAMLET; Streptokocker; kolonisering; Streptococcus pneumoniae; biofilm formation; Internalisation; Persistence; Antibiotic resistance; Streptococcus pyogenes; Streptococcus agalactiae; HAMLET; Breast milk; Proteome; Virulence factors; Colonization;

    Sammanfattning : Multi-drug resistant (MDR) infections remain the leading cause of death worldwide. MDR infections caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae (Spn), Streptococcus pyogenes (GAS) and Streptococcus agalactiae (GBS) are considered global threats to human health due to increased spread of antibiotic resistance and limited treatment options.
